  1. I ordered the "Shrink Yourself..." book ...a used copy from Amazon for $7.30. I'll be ready!! Haydee... where the hell are Pamela's pork rinds??
  2. I went researching the book that Haydee is supposed to read and it got mixed reviews on Amazon. So I looked for others in the related field and found this one that I think I'll get. It got great reviews and lots of them: [ame=http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0470044853/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top]Amazon.com: Shrink Yourself: Break Free from Emotional Eating Forever: Roger Gould: Books[/ame]
  3. Jenn - What's the verdict on Kevin??
  4. My son's psychiatrist doesn't take it either. Very few psychologists or psychiatrists do. It's 'cause they so often get screwed over by the insurance companies. It works out better for them and they can charge a cheaper rate if they just don't even mess with it. My son's rate is $90 and then I turn it into the insurance co. and get reimbursed at 60% after a $250 deduct. His meds are reimbursed as any other illness. The balance of those unpaid charges are reimbursed by my FSA. That's a good question, Haydee....
  5. Dang, ya'll have been chatty today! Ok, so I'm going to buy that book pRONTO, Haydee. I already know what's running thru my head when I am about to eat: "I'm hungry." LOL My problem is not eating constantly, but what my food choices are! Bleh! I DID go to the gym today...didn't do weights...just the treadmill, bike and elliptical. Burned 250 calories. I've hardly eaten anything today...cottage cheese bkfst, cheese and crackers at 3:00 (lunch?). Mom got discharged from the hospital last night, got her back into the nursing home. It's such a freaking ordeal and stressful for all of us. She's on a new unit now so that means getting used to new caregivers and when I was there today, they SUCKED. The night crew is much better. Anyway, she is doing horribly. Really. This esophagitis thing has her on pureed foods and "honey thick" liquids....that means NO water or juice or tea or coffee, etc. Apparently she's been aspirating fluids into her lungs causing her recurrent bouts of pneumonia...or at least contributing to them. Well, NOW the problem is that she is not eating OR drinking!!! She lost 13 pounds in the hospital over 9 days. She eats little baby-spoon bites of food and quits after about 8-10 bites on a good day. She's very weak and doesn't want to get out of bed. My SISTER has decided this would be a good weekend to go see her grandkids in Austin. (She sees them 1x/month at least.) I was emotionally exhausted after being with mom yesterday and today. DH is playing poker tonight, playing golf tomorrow... I just want to sit on the floor and cry for 2 hours. But I don't cry. ANYWAY.... I think I'll go order a pizza. I'm hungry.
  6. Tracy, when I got UNfilled they took me from 2.6 to 2.0. When I went back to get filled again she took me to 2.3. I think i need a wee bit more. I can still eat too much too fast. I'm eating my Breakfast and then heading for the GYM!
  7. Is there a color that doesn't look good on Haydee?? You are gorgeous! Everyone looks so happy....that's so nice to see.
  8. These are all great posts... and great news from Haydee!! Can't WAIT to see the pics, girlfriend!! I was thinking about you all weekend! Do you have a website for your wedding venue? I have a friend that's looking.... While reading, the one thing that stood out and struck a nerve is this: What TracyM said about being an inspiration to other people (whether you know it or not). I think we have all inspired each other along the way. When I think of it in terms of my responsibility to you, suddenly I'm not so willing to fail. If I fail, am I giving you all permission to fail?? I'm sorry, but I"m not willing to sit back and NOT take responsibility for the whole group of us. It's not JUST ABOUT ME... it's about US, AS A GROUP. I may not be willing to do it for myself, BUT I AM WILLING TO DO IT FOR YOU. What about you? If you sit with those thoughts for a moment, how does it make you feel? If I am counting on you to succeed and continue to inspire me, does it help you to stay motivated? Interesting, no? Just like a military mentality -- that's the only way units survive -- because nobody can fail. The whole unit could perish if you make a mistake!
  9. Ok then, Tracy, I WILL go to the gym on Friday! Just watch me! I can't today because after work I have to go to the hospital. I've been there every night this week after long long days at work. I'm off tomorrow and will roll out of bed and straight to the gym. I'll do it again on Saturday, too. So there. NSV today? DH complimented me very nicely.
  10. Ok, DH is sitting here watching a poker tournament on TV and one of the guys just said, "You got to go in with a positive attitude and you'll be a winner." Hmmmm. Is that where we've all gone wrong? Did we get off track when the pounds stopped melting off and lose our winning attitude? Did that just put us back in that mindset of "Oh well, I guess I failed at this, too. Might as well go get a milkshake." All I know is that I feel FAT. 182.5 today. I know what I need to do but I have a million excuses to not do it. Have I given up? Do I have a negative thinking tape loop that just keeps playing over and over and over?? Yes, I do. Bleh. I'm going to the gym on Friday. I'm going to try to start over from the beginning.
  11. Ok, these will cheer everyone up!! Look how dang cute these beads are!!! They're $8.50 each! I'd buy them but they'd only make me hungry....
  12. LAURA!!!!! WHAT THE F***???? Stop that shit RIGHT NOW!!!
  13. Hi all -- Thank sooo much for all the hugs, girlz. It means so much to have you all in our corner. I had the day from HELL at work today (board meeting on Wednesday) then straight to the hospital. Just getting home. Mom is a little better. Endoscopy tomorrow to see what's going on with her esophagus. Hallucinations are almost gone. Laura - good luck on your test! TracyK - with a storm in the gulf, aren't you glad you aren't working?!?! Poor Macy (missing her friends)... There are lots of playgroups in neighborhoods and local Y's etc, aren't there? Does your neighborhood have a newsletter or website? Judy - You sure haven't gotten much pool time this summer, have you!? Well, at least you are enjoying your Wii! I may have to do a little research on it myself. At this rate I'll never get back to the gym. Don't know why I keep paying for it every month! Pamela - I wish you were here to make me laugh! I wish we all lived closer. TracyinKS - Don't get me started on "nuns". They scare the crap outta me. I went to Catholic schools. 'Nuf said. Jane - Did you look for school district jobs today? Kat - Do you ever sit still? Glad you had fun and are back home safe and sound. Is your TT all healed finally? Suzie - Hi! Hope you're enjoying your pool. You sure deserve it! Jenn - So you're partying with the guys after work?? hmmm?? Who is your #1 prospect for the wedding if Kev isn't going? Where is the army guy stationed? Glad to have you back. Haydee - Wedding report please!! Hey! I got 2 more orders for jewelry today!! Woo hoo!
  14. Tracy, my friend used to live in Galveston for a few years and she said that the water is prettiest in September .... something about the currents changing that time of year. So that's something to remember. What beach do ya'll like to go to?
  15. Jane - Pamela had a great idea there! I've always thought I'd like to work in a school if we ever move out of this God-forsaken city. You should definitely look online...good thing is that they usually post all their job openings there. You could even cut hair on Saturday mornings for extra $$. Denise - your house is gorgeous!! Can't wait to see the inside!! Lucky dog! Did you already put in a pool too?? Or have plans for one? Isn't it a requirement for people in California? Yesterday was a bad day for Mom.... she was hallucinating badly and thought she was a the beauty shop and had no way home....was calling me to come get her. Then she realized she didn't have a "home" anymore and was crying asking if she could come stay with me. It was so sad. So I cancelled my plans and rushed over there. She was OK by the time I got there, cheerily eating her lunch and a CNA was sitting with her to keep her company. She took a nap and when she woke up she was very confused by the noises her roommate was making (curtain between them), frightened and asking who was over there...was it teenagers??? She then, of course, forgot that she was unable to walk and tried to get out of bed when I turned my back...so up go the bed rails. It's getting really hard now to resist wishing the Good Lord would just take her....I'm crying just typing the words....but I can't stand the thought of her being frightened by her surroundings. It's one thing to be sick...but to be frightened and confused on top of it is just too much. She also has esophagitis and her one pleasure--eating--is taken away too. Purple Power, please.
  16. Judy, I AM convinced that it's cheaper to eat out these days! If you consider that I always end up throwing out sooooo much stuff! It's ridiculous. We never know how our week is going to go so it's hard to plan. A basket-full of groceries these days is $225! Fah-get that! Michelle - my DD has dropped her phone in the pool twice...each time we put the phone under a light bulb for 2 days and it 'healed' itself!! Try it!
  17. JENN'S BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 15 PAGES? That's ALL?? I'm so glad you're back!! Now all is right with the world.
  18. Just got home from the hospital visiting my mom. She takes these massive antibiotics that make her hallucinate a bit and believe things that cannot possibly be real. Get this: She believes she had a breakfast meeting with Prince Charles and the Queen of England this morning. It's like she knows how ridiculous it sounds, but she is compelled to tell the story anyway...and to her it is quite real. Soooooo weird. She also sees people in the painting that's in her room....but it's a painting of a garden scene! Oh, and the 'people' are constantly changing clothes and hairdo's! Poor mom.
  19. I'm sorry Laura!! Why don't you ask him where that material was covered? I'd be curious! They offer Astrology as a science?? Or do you mean Astronomy?
  20. Laura - what degree are you working on that you need Anatomy for?
  21. Oh, and thanks for asking....Mom seems to be doing better but we'll know more as test results come in. She's had x-rays and cat scans out the wazoo and bag after bag of antibiotics. They might be doing a pleural effusion (stick a needle in her lung to drain fluid) if the test results warrant it. I don't know how she keeps going, but she does. I would have given up long ago. She's a wonderful lady.
  22. Laura, why are you taking an Anatomy class anyway? I must have missed something along the way. Yeah, I feel ya. I took 6 hours of Anatomy and Physiology in college as a nursing major. They were my most interesting and challenging classes...and the ones I had to study the hardest for. I remember the anatomy part was a LOT of pure and simple MEMORIZATION. But the terms are difficult to memorize because, as a 'lay' person, you have no frame of reference....terms like "mandibular tuberosity" might as well be "thunkal ernot" for all the sense they make to you, right? Oh, I feel your pain!! I only made an A on one test and I studied my ass off for that one...I still remember it because all my friends were at the big UT-OU football game and I stayed behind to study. Have you talked to your professor about this situation? Is there some project or paper you could perhaps do rather than an exam to make up the credit? If it's not pertinent to your degree maybe he'd be willing to make that change for you? Pamela would probably have good suggestions, too. I read this and for some reason the thought popped into my head, "This is probably a sentence that has never been uttered in the Universe before." Eh?
  23. Of all the beautiful things they have on etsy, that's what you find!!?..... Oh well, I guess 'art' is in the eye of the beholder!:Banane03:
  24. Michelle....sell on ETSY.com!! You get lost in the shuffle on Ebay. Etsy is all handmade goods and the listing fees are better.
  25. Sorry Michelle -- I have NO NSV for you today. I weighed 183.4 this morning and not feeling too keen about it. I AM happy for you, however!! Back when I was skinny (after Atkins and 158#), DH and I used to play tennis. I loved it! Go with it and have fun!!
