Numbess in Upper Thighs Since Surgery

I have not noticed this in my hips or upper thighs but in my feet you bet I did and I still ahve the problem and I am four years post op. They were fine the day I went in for surgery and the following day when putting on my socks, my right legs above the ankle bone felt numb and tingily, radiationg to my last two toes. I complained of this but was told that the foot pumps they put on me might have compressed a nerve, well four years later and both feet are affected by this. I have asked my Surgeon, my veins surgeon, my own Dr. and well no one listens to me. My toes feel like skeleton toes, all bent and curling in. I have feeling but numbness and tingling all at the same time. I was a Type 2 diabetic but no nerve damage due to the disease. My current AI C level is at a 5 no signs of diabetes, so nuropathy should be ruled out but I do have lowere back problems and my back will go out for weeks at a time so that could be the problem so now I need a nerve test and those are painful, probes going into your nerves ouch.

    Esophageal Pain/Spasms?

I had my UGI done last month the radiologist is very good, he has done about 8 of these on me sicne I was first banded four years ago. He told me and showed me during one of the swallows that my esophagus was having spasms at each swallow, he also told and showed me tha the esophagus was very narrow and even the barium was not going through like it should, he said I had reflux built up in my esophagus, causing it to be greatly dialated. He said that he felt removing some of the fluid might help but it will not fix the problem. I also have a hital hernia where at or how large who knows because I don't and was never told, the hernia was discovered a few weeks ago and well it was found on last years UGI and now I am being told of this. My band was diagnosed as mechanical failure for this is a re occurring problem with me and the Dr. treated me by only removing fills and then re filling me, over and over again. I am now waiting on insurance approval to have revision surgery to RNY

    Esophageal Dilation

I have had esophageal dialation called a mega esophagus and not from over eating either, you can develope this from having a too tight band when food does not pass through the esophagus to the stomach due to a narrow esophagus measuring about 2.3 mm in diameter means that the foods and possible liquids you take in cannot pass and there for it in my terms just sits and backs up, causing vomiting, reflux and a real bad time of it. My most current UGI showed that my esophagus had narrowed, nothing passing through it, reflux in the esophagus just sitting there no place to go. It was also diagnosed that I ahve a hiatal hernia and as long as the hernia is there I will always have problems and possible esophagus problems for the rest of my life. If you have a hiatal hernia then your not supposed to be banded until after it is fixed, I was told none was found during my surgery but now it surfaced, so did the hernia happen due to all the vomiting? and pressure I had? I can't say I am not a Dr. However my Surgeon had his office person send ina pre-determination letter to ahve the band removed and convert me to the RNY. I am still waiting for an answer. My Band has been completely emptied, placed on 2 weeks of liquids and 4 weeks pured foods and anopther UGI to follow. This is not my first time around with this same problem, for it has persisted now 2 years and enough is enough in my book. The Hiatal hernia was actually seen on my UGI from June 2010 and we are now just being told of this. What took so long? got me I was not the one reading the scan results, you cannot go by paper documentaion from the radiologist for they might not report it.

    hernia repaired???

My Band was done about four years ago and since then I had some problems, I recently had a UGI done and found to have an enlarged esophagus, not eh first time either, last year I had one about the same time of year to thnk of it and I had a UGI done at that time too! Well I just was told I hae a hernia and it was found last year but no one mentioned it to me up until now. I have a few other problems pertaining the the Band itself and had to have the fill removed completely. My Dr. put in to my insurance agency a request for a revision to remove the band for I will continue to have the same problem over and over once I begin the fills. A Revision to RNY will be done. When I had the Band surgery no hernia was found, it there was a hernia the Dr. would have repaired it. I have no clue wht kind of hernia it is but maybe tomorrow I will find out. Could this have been brought on due to constant vomiting, over tightness of the band or what? Just trying to get some answers.

    Empty Lap band

Hi everyone, thought I would let you know that I seen my Dr. this morning and when he seen my current UGI X-Rays he almost lost it. My esophagus is mega sized, real bad I was told by his coordinator that this constitute to mechanical failure of the band and there for a letter to my health paln is in the making when I don't know but I am trying to have revision surgery. All the fill has been removed and I ahve been places on a 6 week diet, the first two weeks only liquids and the remaining 4 weeks puraded foods anything that I can liquify in mushy sstages and sip through a straw the nurse said and he gave me a months supply of a diet aid to help on bad days. This is my third dilated esophagus since 2008 and well the band has helped me a great deal but it is not going against me. I will do my best to not gain weight and I was told as odd as it seems some of his patients that had their fill removed as me lost weight no weight gain so I think like me that had their band done several years post op might be able to handle eating smaller portions and carry on as if the fill was never removed, but sometimes it is hard to tame a hungry stomach.
  7. Hi I am new just joined up. My name is Roxxie and well my Lap Band is almost 4 years old now and due to some problems I am now seeking a revision from the band to Gastric Bypass. I will be turning 60 in a few months and it is harder for people my age to lose weight or to keep it off. I lost over 100 pounds and re gained 16 back in a year, not good but who knows why for I sure don't

    Esophageal spasms.

I am having the same problem and well i too m 57 years old my band is 4 years old. I will probably have to ahve some fill removed tomorrow when I see my Dr. but I wil also bringing to the board sort to speak a revision procedure removing the band and having the bypass done, this is a complication and well most insurance companies will cover a revision due to band complications it is getting the Dr. to submit the right paperwork to get the job done. Best of luck to you

    Esophagus

Why did I ahve what done? the Lap Band or the UGI and my issues are. Vomiting during and after meals, heartburn, food not going down, sore esophagus at times. My Band seems to tighten up at any Gods given moment with out a real reason. I have not had a fill since January. Reason why was because I was not hungry and I was not showing signs of problems until about two weeks or so ago. My UGI shows that my esophagus in the mid section is very narrow 2 mm, no food will pass through causing my food to back up and to be stored in the esophagus causing it to dilate (again). I am not the typical Bandster I guess. I will be seeing my Dr. soon and I ahve my report to show him and the scans to back this all up and according the radiologist even though he feels some of the Fluid can be removed it will not fix the problem for my esophagus spasms this is why it closes up on me and well since no test was down before the surgery we had no idea that I had what is called Achalasia, read up on it.
