  1. Hi All, I have my first appointment with surgeon Paul Burton from Melbourne next Wednesday and l am so excited. I have struggled for years and years with my weight, and having my four gorgeous children over the past 7 years has only added the kilos on; physically and emotionally. I meet Paul Burton at an information night last month and thought he seemed very genuine. I have read so much information about the lap band procedure and an abundance of your helpful forum posts, but l must admit a small part of me is still somewhat anxious about taking this step. Will my surgeon really walk with me through this entire journey? Will my surgery be successful? Will l be able to embrace the lifestyle changes? Will l become healthier and happier? or sad and depressed like so many l have read about. So many questions, so much to consider....and hopefully so much to 'lose' lol. If you have seen Paul Burton or can relate to my apprehensive mindset l'd love to hear from you. Much Love, Finallyhapy

    Pros and Cons

Hi All. I am seeing a surgeon next Wednesday for my first consult, and was just wondering if you could share 3 positive outcomes and 3 negative outcomes you have personally experienced from having the lap band procedure. So that l can weigh up real life experiences to assist in my decision xx Finallyhappy

    Pros and Cons

Thanks Misty that is good info to know. I have about 40kg to lose but to be honest with you if l could get even half that weight off l am sure l would feel 100% better. But l will aim for the 40kg all the same. I have a feeling the surgeon l am seeing prefers to do fills very sparingly, stating that it usually takes 3- 6 fills to get the desired amount. I appreciate having folks like your self to learn off, and to share with. Have a wonderful day xx
  4. Hi, I am going to see a surgeon on Wednesday 4th May 2011, and likewise, all going well aniticipate having the procedure early June. I am a 35 year old, married, mother of four from Melbourne Australia. I have about 40kgs to lose which l think it like 88 -90lbs. I have made the decision in my heart and mind that this is the right move for me and now l just can't wait till it happens and l really start living and not just surviving. I would love to stay in touch, so keep me posted on the date you receive for your surgery and l will likewise. All the best, Melinda (finallyhappy)

    Pros and Cons

Thanks ladies for your replies. I feel like l am ready to take the step and have the procedure, but just wanted to hear from those who have been there before me. The books and internet tells so much, but it is the personal experiences from real people l find valuable. But l will certainly bear in mind that everyone is different and so too are their challenges and triumphs. I just want to have a better quality life; happy and healthy in my own skin and if this ultimately is the outcome, then l am ready for the cons… Much Love, Finallyhappy
