Hi Shanna, Like you I am also a Registered Nurse, been fat all of my life, tried every diet only to lose some weight and gain it all back and I also think this is the best WLS to have. For the last 10 years I have researched every WLS procedure and have settled on the Sleeve. By nature and trade I worry because I know of al the possible complications. Now that I have been approved I am thinking more about the " what ifs". However I know that if I don't get the weight off now at the age of 52 I will more than likely have serious health problems in the future. I have a 20 year old daughter and I want to live to see her become an old lady!

Last time I posted I was trying to get the Insurance company to extend my approval date for surgery. BCBS extended the date for my daughter and me. My daughter has completed all of her preop tests and hopefully will have surgery in May. I will have surgery after I get her recovered. Has anyone had surgery done in Atlanta?

Has anyone had Surgery at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta with Dr. Sirinivasen? How was it? I have been aprroved but I'm wating for more info.

Hello I am new to the forum and glad to have people to talk with who are going through this life altering process. I have been approved for the surgery but currently I am overseas and will not be back to the states until May or June. I need to get BCBS to extend my authorization. Does anyone have any advice on getting that done?

Hi Sheila, I know how you feel. I've also been approved for surgery and I am also scared. My family and friends don't think I need to have it. But as an RN I know the health problems that can occur as I get older. I keep also asking myself if I really want to take the risk with surgery.
