I Wish Someone Had Told Me....

I wish I would have known: Not to buy so many popcicles and jello before surgery. I still have popsicles and jello leftover...8 months later. That the weight would not come off evenly all over my body. I have held weight or have sagging on my inner thighs, backs of arms, and tummy. So, even though I'm down alot of weight, certain clothes won't fit me because of my big thighs, arms, etc. That it would be so difficult just after surgery to go from a lying down position to a sitting position or from sitting to standing. If I'd had a pull bar over my bed, it would've been alot easier. That I really should have told everyone. I kept it a secret. Not to buy so many clothes at each size....you don't stay in one size for very long. That said....I'd do it all over again!

June Sleevers Whats Your 6 Months Status ?

Hey - I was sleeved on the same day as you and also want to lose 101 pounds. (not sure what my ticker says, I haven't updated it in forever.) You may want to go back to shakes for a day or two and then start out trying not to each more than 3/4 cup of food at a meal for 3 meals. Good luck! I think my body stalls for a few weeks and then all of a sudden I see a small drop. I'm only averaging 2-2.5 lbs a month at this point.

June Sleevers Whats Your 6 Months Status ?

Oh ...I end up around 800-900 calories a day if I count the calories in my vitamins (gummies and citracal chocolate bites). The dietician said that I shouldn't count those calories, but they ARE calories eaten in my opinion.

June Sleevers Whats Your 6 Months Status ?

218 day of on June 23rd...159 now. Low Carb helps me control sugar cravings, too. I can fit in 3/4 cup of food but only 1/2 cup if it's only meat. I need more exercise. Doctor wants me to lose to 150 but I'd like to be around 132....to be out of the obese category. That said, 150 would be fine.

How do you get your caffeine fix?

I tried it a few times since surgery and it irritated my stomach. I was a 3 to 4 cup per day drinker pre op. I have just started drinking Click and it gives me protein and caffeine.

How much should I be eating

I range between 600-800 calories, 30-40 carbs, 70+ gms Protein. I'm 11 weeks out and can eat only a few oz of chicken or beef, but can eat 4 oz of other foods, such as yogurt. I can eat one light cheese stick and be full. I have to restrain myself with liquids...liquids come back up after 5 oz if I don't pace myself.

    Chike Protein from Bariatric Advantage

I'm 11 weeks out and had some free samples from Chike! during the first few weeks after surgery. I haven't been able to find anything that tastes quite as good...I love the Banana Magic and just received a tub yesterday. This was my first purchase of Chike! because the carbs are kind of high compared to other shakes, such as Unjury or Syntrax Nectar, etc. I will use it a few times each week...but it is SOOOO good!

    Movement - TMI

I'm 11 weeks out and if I don't use something like MOM or mirilax, I don't go for days....TMI...but true. :-)
  10. 11 weeks out (not quite 3 months) and 36 lbs down. 51 total since the pre-op diet, so I'm half-way to a "normal" BMI. I'm a SLOW loser...

    C25k

After 2 months of walking, I thought I'd give this a try. I have to wear a knee support. I'm using podcasts to tell me when to run and walk. I will have to do week 1 for more than one week though.
  15. I went on vacation to the mountains and hiked up mountain trails 3-6 miles each day for 6 days. I drank the right amount of water, took my vitamins, ate between 600-800 calories, stayed low carb and around 72-90 grams of protein. When I got home - THE SCALE HAD NOT MOVED. That was the most exercise of my life and NOTHING happened. Just disappointed - needed somewhere to vent!

http://www.georgiahealthnews.com/2011/08/state-health-plan-launches-premium-kids/#more-12743 If you have any SHBP of GA, they will no longer pay for bariatric surgery after December 2011. Just FYI.

20 Mi Hiking & NO LOSS!

Do you recommend additional carbs or protein for the extra calories? I've been shooting for 90 gms protein and so most food is protein in the form of meat, shake, or Greek yogurt. I track every bite through a sparkpeople app on my phone. I track all outdoor exercise via GPS on the endomondo app. I should mention that I'm always constipated now (TMI?), so it's possible that some carbs in the form of fiber might help. Thanks again for the support! PAT

Same as above, but I also take Biotin 1000 mg daily to help prevent hair loss.

20 Mi Hiking & NO LOSS!

Thanks for the encouragement. It was just so disappointing! I'll just keep on doing what I'm supposed to. Did 3 miles in 50 min last night.
