  1. Oh! That was dumb of me. Wait until they are all the way healed. Swimming pool and wounds is a horrible idea! But in a couple of weeks you swim girl!!!
  2. Do you like swimming. Its a good way to get in some of that resistance without putting a lot of impact on your body. And if you are hiking and walking you really are doing great! It feels good when you don't have to keep feeling like a patient and you get to feel like you are really doing the work you need to in order to change your body.
  3. I don't think you are supposed to do any of the lifting weight baring stuff until after 6 weeks. I know I wasn't supposed to do anything ab related until a month out.
  4. Depends on your particular rules, for some this doesn't count as a mushie, but I would make egg beaters scrambled eggs (only like 1/4 c) w about 1/4 of cottage cheese cooked in and then they were super soft and went down easily and had lots of protein.
  5. Yup, I really am. I am trying really hard to start incorporating some serious exercise. For now I just really want to get down to 50 lbs and we are both super close! I bet we could be there in the next two weeks. How amazing is that?!?!?!?
  6. Yup. I have an egg timer that I take w/ me more to remember to drink often enough. I am still not totally great at the 2 minute bites between meals, but I'm getting better!
  7. Daisy I am so thrilled for you!!! What a lot to accomplish in a year. Thanks for cheering me on both preop and now. It means a lot to me! Wow, I can't imagine being down 100 lbs in a year, I am going to be dilligent and hopefully soon enough I'll be on your heals!
  8. Wow! Your surgery was just the day before mine. Is all your weight loss post op or does that include the preop stuff too? Have you experienced any slow downs the last couple weeks?
  9. So I have this very young tactless friend who we all adore, but who without realizing it says the MOST horrible things. He hadn't seen me in about a week and I was wearing a short sleeve shirt and he hugged me then grabbed my arm smiling and said, "Anna your arms are so much different, I mean seriously look your skin is like elephant skin now!" Holy S*** I am only a month post op. I already had old lady flabby stretch mark arms, but as I lose more I fear my vanity may make me crazy!!!!
  10. You will be fine! And conveniently much less need for wiping post op!
  11. And BTW this won't be your last ladies night, eventually you will go and just be a really cheap drunk!
  12. Angie, Enjoy!!! I am so excited for you. Its tricky those people who love us, but don't understand. I don't know how to change that. We get you!!!
  13. This is a good one!!!! It will save you a lot of discomfort post op I promise!
  14. I'm glad today was better! I need to buck up and do tea, I really have never enjoyed it, but I think it would make my tummy happier in the AM.
  15. I was allergic to one of the tapes I used when I got home too. I had to wash the area really well using sterile gauze and then switching adhesives. I also used neosporin on the irritated skin (not the incision itself.)
  16. Jillian, I am scared for you. I thought about this post a few times today, any surgeon that operated on you would be doing you a huge disservice. Please oh please do much more homework before you make this decision. As happy many people post op are this is so life altering. And you won't be able to go back. I would be so sad for you to do something irreperable to your body if it weren't necessary. Please be very careful.
  17. Pain at least for me has not remained. There is definite discomfort if things go down wrong, but it isn't what makes my choices. That sounds different than I mean, I am not saying I have had some HUGE emotional change yet, I haven't. But, those times when I need to be done eating aren't generally painful anymore. I've started to be able to catch my cues a little quicker and avoid that much discomfort, just a little bit of tightness sometimes. And for me this change has only happened in the last week. Go easy on yourself though. Your stomach will have internal swelling for atleast a couple more weeks. Sometimes putting stuff in there is unpleasant. Loads of people (my surgeon included) really encourage you to try a hot/warm herbal tea in the morning. I don't know what your immediate post op diet is, but I had to kind of chill out about calories and carbs (and I did not want to) in order to stay hydrated. I had to do a few gatorades the first couple weeks, and then Protein shakes made w/water always went down easier for me. A lot of people also say that they take in fluids better at room temp instead of cold. Wow!!! I have been rambling, I guess the jist is this. You will need to do some trial and error (within the guidelines you've been given) and make friends with your sleeve. Figure out what does and doesn't work for your body. Good luck!
  18. Hang in there!!! It really does happen that you start to feel good about life. And do measurements of yourself now, don't let the scale be the thing that makes or breaks a day or that affects the way you behave with food. There are a million factors that go into a small increase or a small decrease so it really can't be the decider for you!
  19. Sheen, Odds are good that the reason she is experiencing this, is because she is only consume liquids and that is all her body can put out for now. It is unpleasant but very normal, just make sure she continues to stay hydrated.
  20. Sugar free popsicles were really my pal. I really was not convinced things were going to improve, but they will. A lot!
  21. I had some days initially where I was obsessed with sonic ice chips and water, but I can't pull that off anymore. I water down my crystal light and still sometimes put crushed ice in it, but water just doesn't work for me and the thought of it is literally nauseating.
  22. I think you will be very happy with your decision. Spend this next little while getting used to going for walks around your neighborhood. I am really excited for you!
  23. Yeah, I have had two friends look at me like what are you talking about? I think because I'm so prone to nausea and anything funky with my tummy that they assume this is just another weird Anna thing.
  24. I was whining about not being able to get started on any exercise and Mini started a thread in this forum called what are you doing to get moving? Each week I put in my goals and then report at the end of the week. I don't know what things you'd be able to do with your asthma, but you should look at those and see if it sparks ideas for you.
  25. That makes me giggle! I was a server there for a year. I am scouring my brain for my faves and they are all fatty carb dreams. Don't know if they still have it, but they used to have this to die for beefsteak tomato salad. It had huge slices of tomatoes, basil, and fresh mozzarella. Even my full stomach self loved this and found it filling. It may sound kookie, but what if you got the rotisserie chicken. You obviously wouldn't able to eat loads of it but they are yummy and you would be able to resuse that several times. Okay, I just went and looked at that site, it is a good thing when I worked there that I was walking around so much! The nutrition info is not promising there!!! I am not a seafood girl at all, but I really like their blackened salmon too. Good luck! (If all else fails the raspberry white chocolate cream cheese pie...........is terrible, it is yucky, no one really wants that!)
