Weight GAIN this week!!!!
That's great, DisneyMomma! I am 5 weeks, 3 days, post-op and have lost a total of 30 lbs. It was 31 but gained 2 lbs over the weekend, then lost a pound by this morning. I am so frustrated!! It's hard for me to understand how I could gain anything with such a small amount of calories, fat, carbs, etc... Anyway, have my 2nd follow-up appointment tomorrow with Doc Nick. I'm really glad too! Most of my incisions are itching and inflamed in spots. It's from my stiches (inside) rearing there ugly heads. Not sure why they are not dissolving, but I'm sure it has to do with my stupid sensitive skin. Here's to constant losing...have a good day!

burping and barfing
With such gas issues...I would not recommend using a straw, especially this early on...just saying.

burping and barfing
Are you on Pepcid or the like? In addition, Gas-X has worked well for me at my surgeons suggestion. Just take it slow...everything is so swollen in there. Remember they had to stick the bougie down your throat to your stomach to use as a guide for size to cut your new tummy too, so everything is swollen and ultra sensitive. Are you drinking liquids cold or warm? May make a difference. It does get better. Promise! You are going through the toughest part right now. Just hang in there!

Just call me Elsie...
Do you remember "Elsie the Cow?' Well...my surgeon must have replaced my old tummy with hers because I have been grazing all day! I am so very disappointed in myself. Not sure if I have been fighting head hunger all day or real hunger. But I certainly took in too many calories, fat, carbs, etc... I DO NOT WANT TO SABATOGE MY NEW SLEEVE!! Anyone else having the same problem 4 1/2 weeks post-op?

VSG Regrets?
Four weeks out yesterday. It was a rough first 2 weeks post-op, but I have NO REGRETS!! It is difficult at times trying to figure out my new tummy's limits, but it is just a learning curve.

Surgeon says I should stop eating like a baby
Try to stay away from starches and sugars as my surgeon says they swell in your tummy...BREAD (excluding toasted), rice, Pasta, potatoes. I had some mashed potatoes and threw them up. I would just take in 1-2 ounces of meat and wait to see how it sits on your new tummy. Also, remember that greasy food and fried food can make you feel yucky, as well as sugar. Lean lunch meat (turkey and ham) is also easier on my tummy. I take a slice of ham and a slice of Swiss, roll it up and take small bites. Haven't had any issues with chicken and have only had hamburger (taco) meat once. Tummy didn't care too much for it though. Fish, chicken, tuna, and lunch meat have been the way to go for me.

Cold food...YUCK!!!
With us sleever's having to eat our meal over 20-30 minutes, how on earth do you keep your food from getting cold?? I ordered a baby plate online that has a Water reservoir to keep the baby food warm. Going to try and see if it helps. I so hate cold food. Well...unless it's supposed to be that way. Any suggestions?

Pain, Not feeling well, advice please
Try to pinch and pull the skin on the back of your hand and hold for 3 seconds, then let go. If it slowing goes back into place, you are probably dehydrated. The longer it takes the skin to return to normal the more dehydrated you are. If it springs back quickly, it's probably not that. I would call my surgeon's office this morning!

how long were you off work?
I agree...take the time if you can afford to. I am fortunate in that I do not have a job other than my family. I am a student and took the semester off and starting back up in the summer. I am 4 weeks post-op today and am feeling great! Just do what feels good to YOU.

How do you handle "Appetizers"?
Just have to say...I so wish I would have gone too "Simply Fondue" before my surgery. Wanted to go with the girls, but never got the chance. We went to Joe T. Garcia's once but was NOT impressed at all. Well...with the food anyway. Went to Chuy's the other day for the first time and...Wow! I have to say it is my new FAVORITE Mexican food restaurant to date. Have an awesome day!!

Almost at 1 month... only lost 20 lbs!
I will be 4 weeks out on April 16th and my 28 lb loss on my ticker includes my pre-diet loss as well. I was 241 right before surgery and 245 when I cam home. I am now 224. So, from right before surgery until today, I have lost 17 lbs. So I think you are right on target! No worries...it's all good!!

How do you handle "Appetizers"?
...but to be honest my hunger went away around the 5th week. Like you it was very active the 3 & 4 week. But it seems once I could eat real food again, it went away. I can only hope to be so lucky to lose my hunger. Come to think of it, I haven't been real hungry today. Thanks for the encouragement, 2bslimkim! We should get together sometime since we're just a hop, skip and a jump from each other.

Day 13. Gutting it out.
If you like milk based soups like adding 1% milk instead of Water to Campbell's Tomato, Cream of Mushroom, Cream of chicken, etc...you can get powdered milk and add it to the 1 % milk you use and it will double the protein. Not to mention fill you up more. It's yummy! I used the Unjury Chicken Soup by itself as well, though I added spices to it: garlic, onion powder, etc...But when trying to add the Unjury Unflavored to my soups, it was just nasty!! Just because they call it "unflavored" doesn't mean it has no taste, it means it's not chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, etc...lol Good luck and keep your chin up. Seems as though the stalls are just part of it. I have been in a stall for a week now, and I am just shy of 4 weeks out.

3 week stall
It is so very frustrating I know! I am 4 weeks out this Wednesday and I haven't lost anything for a week. I have been following the guidelines of calories, Protein, carbs, fat, and Water. But nothing. It makes no since to me how you could be taking in so little, especially after you have stopped taking in over 3000 calories a day and not lose anything. Stupid old stinky stall!!!

I JUST NEED SOMEONE TO LISTEN (PLEASE HELP)
I too experienced the same thing with mashed potatoes. My doc said it is the starch swelling in your tummy that makes you sick. Happens to some and not to others. Still haven't tried them again since getting sick. It woke me at 4am with cramps and light headedness. And I felt like poo-poo, doo-doo, cock-a the entire day. I have no problems drinking. I do not have to sip any longer. I actually take about 3 small gulps. That is so awesome that you are now off your meds. What a blessing. Chin up, sister!! Shame on your husband for not being there for you. I will keep you in my prayers.

Overeating
Well...honestly, I have had to make myself because I'm to uncomfortable and feel sick to my tummy. It is a different feeling then pre-sleeved for me. My hardest issue is eating a 1/2 - full cup over 20-30 minutes. I am a little under 4 weeks out. I have had to do this maybe 3-4 times. Hope this helps.
