Whoot whoot!!! Have a date!
Hey Yall, I had my consult with my surgeon today!! He is awesome. I am self pay so I was able to set my date today and also squeeze in my nutrition class!. My date for and EGD is scheduled and I am on my way. I could have had my surgery in 2 weeks, but chickened out and set it for JUNE 13th. I am scared to death but also very excited to get my life back. I am so not looking forward to the pre-op diet, but hey I must keep my eyes on the prize. I want to thank everyone on this site for your continued support. You are a great bunch!! Melissa

No more "lurk "mode
Hello everyone, I finally decided to post. I have recently decided that maybe the sleeve is better for me than of the lap band. Whenever I am sure that I have made the right decision, I read a post thst causes me to doubt my decision. I need to lose 70lbs. I am very afraid of having most of my stomache removed and also of having staples. I remember when I was young hearing horror stories of people who had their stomaches "stapled"! I am self pay and heaven forbid I have a leak!!!. Anyway I have 3 children, the youngest is 3y/o, and I'm 40 so I must make the right decision, bcause I need to be here at least 25 more yrs Its been wonderful reading everyones stories. I'm just in need of encouragement. I am in Houston, and will attend a seminar tomorrow. I will keep yall posted because Im quite sure I will have questions for you "losers". Hope to join you guys soon Mel

Lap Band vs Gastric sleeve decision?
I am considering getting the Lap Band, but lately I have been researching the gastric sleeve. I was wondering can you all tell me what made you choose to get the band over the sleeve and also what if any impact your surgeon had on your decision. Thank You all, I keep flip flopping back and forth. Melissa

Pre-Surgery Jitters - I need some calming words from people who care..............
Bandit , I am hoping to be banded in april. I read your comments and this is just my personal feelings. Believe me I understand your love and intimate relationship with food, I have that too, but it is that feeling that have us needing to get the band. I want to have love and an intamacy with tying my shoes without getting winded, running more than 1 block without feeling like Im dying, accepting invites to places instead of not going simply because I am ashamed of how I look!!..Food can go straight to h e double hockey sticks !.. I hope I finally figure out that food is a means to survival....maybe If I tell my self that over and over I will believe it! .Coming from a family that has "Soulfood Sundays" it will be hard. I wish you luck on this journey....hang in there.. and Good Luck!

Surgeon in Houston,Tx for Lap Band
Thanks everyone for posting!!..I have an appointment with Dr.'s Hollis and scarborough...looks like I will be adding Dr. Spivak. He's 1000.00 more than true results but I guess you cant put a price on safety. Does he only practice at Park Plaza? I dont really care for that hospital. Maybe because I work at Memorial Hermann I'm a little partial to the place. But again thanks everyone and keep it coming!!!!

Surgeon in Houston,Tx for Lap Band
Hi! I have decided to get the Lap Band, but I am self pay because of an insurance exclusion . I am still in the surgeon hunting stage. Does anyone have any suggestions? I am considering Dr. Terry Scarborough or Dr. Ken Hollis. I am sooo nervous but excited at the same time. I am so tired of being alive but not living! Hopefully I'll be one of the "banded" in April.
