  1. Prayers going out to you Kelly-I'' be there on the 11th...
  2. Oh, no Sadie, it's not like that at all. I think Dr. Kelly is a great choice. I was going to have it done with my sister and some financing fell through so she couldn't do it with me. I was going to wait until she could get some things together but then my husband offered to pay the difference between the two surgeons if I wanted to go to Aceves and I just couldn't turn him down. Aceves was my first choice but I didn't think I could afford him. I'm super excited.
  3. update....Aceves 2/11!!!
  4. woo hoo! Move it up and come with!
  5. So, the original plan was to go to Dr. Ramos Kelly with my sis which fell through. I was going to wait for her to get some things together and then go, but Capt (my husband) offered to pay the diff b/t Dr. RK and Aceves if I wanted to go to him. Well, um, yeah! So, I am officially scheduled!
  6. I also like the Gold Standard. The Extreme Chocolate is even chocolatier. I mix with sugar free Almond Breeze chocolate which is about 40 cal a cup. Another thing to look at is PB2 which is a powdered form of Peanut Butter which really gives it a good taste and boosts the protein even more. You can get almond breeze at pretty much anywhere but I usually just order it when I order my PB2 form Netrition because it's a flat shipping of 4.95 and sometimes its hard for me to find the SF choc around here.
  7. must have been Kim. She texted me too!
  8. Now that's really interesting but confusing. Dr. Ramos Kelly uses a 32 and oversews as well. Does that mean the result would be less than 32 or am I oversimplifying things?
  9. My surgeon does that as well. Thanks!
  10. I keep hearing that Dr. Aceves has special technique. Anybody know what is so different?
  11. Dr. Ramos Kelly too! 10Feb2011

  14. Scared is normal, as a mom with two toddlers and no family other than my husband, saying goodbye to them the morning I was wheeled into the OR was the hardest thing that I have ever done....one last pic taken with my husband's cell phone about 5 minutes before I was wheeled in...reminded me that I was making the right decision...you cannot begin to imagine how your life is going to change in so many wonderful ways! Physically and emotionally! Do not worry about not being able to eat, for the first time in my life the thought no longer consumes me! You will lose your appetite, and I mean that in a good way....the removal of the cells that would normally secrete ghrelin allow your brain to match the size of your new stomach! I have lost any craving for sweets. This is your personal journey, everybody is different, but I will tell you that for the first time in my adult life, I know that I can succeed at long term weight loss! I am not sorry for a second! Recovery was a little tough for the first few weeks, but everyone is different....take the pain meds! Get rest! The most difficult part for me were the dissolvable Vicryl sutures placed in the deep fascia at the site where they remove your stomach....DON'T LET THAT SCARE YOU! They dissolve in about 4 to 6 weeks, and any pain that you may feel , over the first few weeks of recovery, goes away in an instant! I was a little nauseated, that will subside ... I think the hardest part was staying hydrated...Again, being scared is normal, but once you have gone through it, and you have past the first few weeks of recovery, believe me, you will not be sorry about the decision that you have made! Do not think too much, give your mind a rest, take a deep breath! God bless you and your journey! Source: I'm getting so Scared......

  17. Hi, I'm on the East Coast and I checked round trip flights from FL to San Diego at they are around $300. Not that bad really. The passport is really not that big of a deal just make sure you have a certified copy of your birth certificate. I have just been reading everything I can get my hands on. I booked Dr. Ramos Kelly in Tijuana and I feel very confident with him. I will be sleeved on the 10th of Feb. Add me as a friend and you can track my updates. Good luck!
  18. Bless your heart! It's gonna be okay. I think that is why I'm not telling anyone. I just don't need the added stress. I know it's the right choice for me and that's that. Stand your ground.I kinda worry about the separation thing too. Is that common? I honestly don't think it's going to be like that. The way I see it, if you are a volume eater and it only takes a small amount of food to give you the same satisfaction that there really won't be any separation. Good luck!
  19. http://messageboards.makemeheal.com/breast-augmentation-implants/the-guide-the-tijuana-surgical-experience-t138210.html#p1085737 Hi all, I lifted this from an old board I used to frequent. Hope I don't get in trouble but it really helped me. Disregard any buttocks references!
  20. Hi- I'm going to Dr. Kelly on the 10th of Feb. I see you went through Sandy. Was that Obesity International? I think they are linked with Successfully Slimmer which is who I've been talking to. Do you mind me asking what your fee is? Thanks! Karen
  21. I think we're all going through the same thing. What if you don't? I think you know the answer to that one. Lucky for you, I'm going to RK on the 10th. I won't lie to you. I know how it feels sitting here and wondering. I'm gonna tell it like it is beginning to end.
  22. It's a done dill pickle! Stoked! Scared! Stoked! My grandson (2 yo) calls me nana...it just dawned on me that with my new little sleeve I could go by Nana-Nanner. Get it? banana shaped sleeve? Nevermind!:lol:
  23. That's the first I've heard about Pompa...
  24. I didn't mean you, I was asking the OP. Forgive me. I'm new and am just learning how to do replies.
  25. What was the deciding factor for Kelly over the others?
