  1. Thanks for the replies.. I am too a little scared about it since I have had one before but I guess it shouldn't be that bad since it is put in when ur under and I will be on pain meds once they take it so hopefully its not that bad.. Thanku both for the replies
  2. Congrats.. glad to hear everything went well keep us posted...
  3. You know what, I really have to say how impressed I am at everyone's support. Thanku all for taking time to reply to my post.. I really would love to tell my family. But the truth is, its not worth it trying to have to defend urself to an army.. I will no longer be judged for being obese but ill be judged for choosing to have wls.. which I'm sure most of u have seen this happen because a lot of people view as the easy way out(which we all know it isn't) and that " your just gonna gain the weight back" comment. These people try to set u up for failure. They don't like that you are taking control and doing something about it. People get used to us being big and they get threatened by the future skinny us..
  4. So here is my dilemma. I have decided not to tell any family members besides my husband and a few of my girlfriends that I am getting wls. So I need to have a story as to why I might not be able to do things for a little while.. and I also visit my sister once a week and help her take care of her kids, how can I avoid not picking up the baby... so as I realize that lying isn't the best. I do not have another choice. If I say I'm having surgery for another reason.. they will all want to come and visit me.. so I guess I'm asking for tips from anyone who is also going through this situation of having to keep things from people. Just an FYI, I'm not telling them because when I have talked about it in the past they all we very negative about it.. this is for me not them!
  5. Do I have a choice to not have a catheter? I really don't want a uti and I hear vsg surgery only lasts around an hour and thought only for longer surgeries those were given... please that is a concern of mine so whether u had one or not I would like to hear about it..
  6. Great question and great response planner girl!!! Reading that put me totally at ease.. everything u said is true that period of not being able to eat is short and a year from now a distant memory... take care during your surgery.. all the best!
  7. Thanks again to everyone who posted a reply it really eases my mind. I visit this site multiple times day and night and that's exactly what I will keep doing... thanks a ton!!! :-)
  8. Congrats!!! Can't wait to be in your shoes
  9. Just wondering why u can only have tylenol and not any other pain meds. Also will you always a ppi I believe is the term, will you be on it forever is that like an antacid.. not sure what it standard for thanks.
  10. Loved that post even though I will be doing it in the u.s. but it really helped me with the whole process because everyone is wondering about that pre op. Thanks so much
  11. Thanku both for ur replies this has totally helped calm me down and made me realize that it doesn't have to go down that way.... I'm so happy to have found this site... I appreciate all the support
  12. Well it totally depends on how long you have been overweight, ur age, and how much weight u need to lose. but what i think people forget is to do actual weight training like u see in the biggest loser.. most people concentrate on cardio when it should be both.. we r not talking lifting 5lb weights. But lifting enough we you r getting exhausted by the 12th rep. Now I realize it takes time to build strength and 5 might be all you could do at first but you just build off that... with the weight training u may still have loose skin but it will be dramatically less bc u will have muscle making u look firmer. Good luck
  13. So I have been researching the sleeve for months now and I know this is the right choice. But I'm having a hard time with going through with it.. I'm so scared of complications. I'm going in with none even though I am 30yrs old 5'7 and 290lbs. I know everyone has these fears but how do u push through them. I'm scared of malnutrition I hear all these people having to go for iv's or being put on medications.. the whole point I thought of doing this is to not have to be on any.. is it right to think maybe after surgery u really won't want to drink or eat but u have to force urself literally even though it hurts. Please help me with this
  14. Thanku for replying that does help a lot. I see the surgeon this week for the first time and I have so many questions.. where I went u have to go to the seminar first and then u can make an appointment. Wish me luck
  15. Thanks for replying. Yes I really likes the doctor and felt that he knew his stuff. But I have no idea who has been to them. I wonder if I can ask for referrals
  16. Has anyone been to these doctors for wls.. Dr. Joyce and Dr. Lahmann.. or even if you have heard anything about them. I would greatly appreciate it
  17. I've been on birth control for 9 years now. Is it true that I will have to go off before surgery and then have to possibly switch to a different method after since I may not absorb it as much. I have no children and not sure if I want them and I know I have to wait even if i do.. thanks in advance for any replies
  18. Does anyone have this insurance and if so how quickly did you get approved? Do you get the pre op tests done before your approved or after? Thanks
