Pre Surgery Cardio Consult
For me I went in they gave me an ekg.. than the doc came in and talked and listened to my heart. And sent me to get an echo(ultrasound of the heart).. now I am 28 with no comorbidities and the older you r the more likely you will be sent for a stress test. Especially if you have any comorbidities.

pre-op testing
I have done all my clearances and have received approval from insurance. Now I am just waiting for Monday to come so I can schedule my surgery date and pre-op testing. Was just wondering if anyone could tell me what is involved in the testing before surgery..

Went for my Pre op today- 1st I ever heard of a catheter being used
I asked about and was told yes I would need one.. he said because the surgical room and bed need to be as sterile as possible and that it would give him a good answer on my urine output and to make sure my kidneys were operating well. Now I have seen here and on OH that a few people could not go pee after surgery and to.have a catheter inserted after surgery.. trust me I'm not a fan of this either. It will be my first one and was one of my main concerns but I would rather keep everything sterile and at least its inserted while your sleeping. And just think of the pain meds you will be on when they take it out, u won't feel anything!!!

pro's / con's to being honest about having surgery
Listen no one here is here to make enemies but I was just upset that you prefaced your comment by "it disturbs me to see people who want to keep this a secret"..that's all.. now I'm here bc I soon will be getting this surgery and I look for postiveness.. so I wish you the best

pro's / con's to being honest about having surgery
I agree with bzbutterfly79.. we come here to not be judged but somehow through peoples posts we are.. all the poster wanted was your expierence not what u think about what other people chose to do and how you feel about it.. its everyone's own decision to handle things the way they do. As for me I only told my husband and good friend I don't believe everyone needs to know my business. And it certainly wasn't a shame thing. It's a mind your won business thing.. so the next time you want to sit here and judge people on why they choose not to tell. Take your own advice and skip over the topic

feel like i said to much
Had my psych eval yesterday. I feel like I might of said to much about my personal history.. just family issues. I have no prior drug or alcohol issues. Do u think it could cause a delay at all. I already have been in therapy for a while now. When I asked the psychiatrist what he thinks after all was said and done. He said I did fine and I should be all set and he was gonna have to go over everything and if he had questions he would call. Was just wondering if anyone felt this way and what happened. Thanks!

Do they make you treadmill during an EKG test?
I am a cardiology tech and ekg tests are just the ones where the electrodes are connected to you and u are lying down takes just 2 mintues.. stress tests are done only with the treadmill.

pre-op clearances
Ok so tell me if this is the norm.. I went for my initial consultation and I was told that while my stats were being sent out for pre approval through the insurance company I could go and get my clearances through the cardiologists, pulmonary doc, and psych test.. just wondering what pre approval actual meant and will my insurance cover all these tests that are for pre approval

Surgery in 3 days. Scared.
Well I'm just starting the process and getting all my clearances.. but everyone here was scared.. I just got scared making all my appts to see the doctors.. thinking am I making the right choice and all the what ifs. But I truly believe that if we follow doctors orders there is nothing to fear. This will be my first surgery so I'm scared of that as well. But my little mind trick works wonders.. I just tell myself that the doctor wants me to have this surgery and that its necessary.. it kind of takes away from the fact that its ALL ur decision... best of luck and let is know when u get home with an update
