  1. Thanks. Good luck to you, too!
  2. I am excited to try Zumba. I have friends left and right always commenting about it on FB and it sounds like so much fun!
  3. I wish I was excited as those exclamation points, but alas, I'm not. Today is freaking rough. Surgery is on Monday so I came up yesterday to Jacksonville and I'm staying at my parents' house. And they're having a BBQ. Awesome. Luckily, I can eat meat and veggies during my 2 week pre-op diet, but not so lucky that they have slathered everything in BBQ sauce (15g of sugar, no bueno) and there is fruit and bread EVERYWHERE (also, no bueno). So now I'm sitting my room, mad as hell. Oh, and for those of you that don't know, my father still doesn't know I'm having surgery. My mother's brilliant idea is to tell him tomorrow night before we go to bed so that we don't have to try and sneak out of the house Monday morning. I'm not too sure how that will go down, but I do know that I will be sleeping with my car keys, just in case. I'll let yall know how things go tomorrow. I'm just ready to do this already!
  4. Congrats Vickie! and welcome :001_smile: I haven't tried this, but many people talk about putting some sugar-free syrups in their Protein shakes to help with the flavor. Do you have ready made shakes or are they ones you have to make yourself? As far as ready made shakes go, I bought Premium Advantage shakes from costco, but I believe they also sell them at Sam's Club. They kind of have a weird aftertaste, but they aren't horrible.
  5. I love Degree clinical protection. I don't really need the clinical strength but I use it just in case. It's awesome!
  6. Maybe bring it just in case. Better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it :001_tongue:
  7. Oooohhh...good call on the ear plugs and eye mask. I hadn't even thought of those! Hopefully I can remember to actually bring them.
  8. I'm having surgery next week on the 27th, and I still don't really feel anything. I would think that having gone through so much with trying to get this surgery, I would be over the moon. But I'm not. I'm not nervous either. I just feel....nothing. Does anyone else feel like that?
  9. I got this binder of information from my bariatric center and in it is a hospital checklist. Here's what's on it: clothes to go home in, that don't bind at the waist chapstick toothbrush and toothpaste brush socks pillow slippers and short robe breath freshener drops deodorant glasses or contacts (and solution) list of family/friends with contact numbers, just in case copy of living will and/or power of attorney Water bottle Knowing me, I'll probably STILL forget to bring stuff, but I hope this helps.
  10. I understand what you're going through. My boyfriend is supportive, but many members of my family are not. Especially my dad. He always tried to force me to loose weight with the same tactics he used when he was a Marine. Clearly, that didn't work, and now he's been kept out of the loop. He has no clue I'm having surgery next week....this should go well, considering I'm recovering at his house. Definitely lean on us. I know I am :thumbup1: Hopefully your wife will start to see the changes in you and she'll come around.
  11. I did. My pre-op diet is high Protein, low carb, no sugar and no starchy veggies. But the other night at dinner, my boyfriend ordered the Caramel Gold Rush (we were at Longhorn) and I definitely had 6 bites or so of that. After, I felt like an ass and I keep worrying that my slip-up is gonna put the breaks on this operation. I still have 7 days left, so I'm just going to try REALLY REALLY hard not to do it again.
  12. Thank sound A-MA-ZING!!! I'll probably make it tomorrow. Thanks!
  13. Also, thanks Pamela, Lisa and Sleeve for the advice/words of encouragement. I can't believe it's almost here!!
  14. Thanks for the info. I'll definitely check those out!
  15. Thanks! It's almost time :001_tongue:
  16. Thanks! I think I probably do just need to switch up the meats I'm eating. The other day I made shrimp and felt like I was in heaven. LOL. There are so many times that I want to use lemon, but I can't have lemon juice. Something about the acidity and healing. I cheated last night and I felt like such an ass. I was doing good all dinner (steak and veggies) until my boyfriend ordered dessert. I definitely had 5 or 6 spoonfuls of the most delicious apple pie a la mode EVER! But afterward I was like, uhhh....hope I didn't just eff this up. I guess we'll see on the 27th. Good luck to you!
  17. Thanks for the advice! I'm starting my last week so I'm definitely going to try some of these tips.
  18. My goal is to lose 180 lbs, but i could probably lose 160-150 and be happy. I'm scheduled for 9/27 with Dr. Webb in Jacksonville, FL. I CAN'T WAIT!!
  19. I asked my doctor several times if I need to stop taking my BC and he said that it would be fine. I could even take it on the day of surgery and only take a little sip of water, if necessary. My period is supposed to start 4 days after surgery, but I was thinking of not taking the sugar pills and just starting a new pack right away. I've done it before and never had problems, but I also wasn't on medication for surgery. Sigh. Guess that's another question I'll have to ask him.
  20. I don't personally have experience with it, but a friend of mine has. She said it doesn't feel like anything and there's no pain. She had a Brazilian laser done.
  21. Good information! My poor boyfriend hardly gets any now. It reminds me of Blue Collar Comedy when Bill Engval compares sex to getting a chess set (or something like that) in the mail. "You get one piece every 6-8 weeks...." HAHAHA. So I'm sure he will appreciate this :scared0:
  22. I know what you mean Susieq. I haven't had VSG yet, but I've had operations in the past and yeah, I think that smell comes from anesthesia. I drank tons of water, but I don't know if that did the trick or if it finally just worked it's way out of my system. It should go away after a while.
  23. This is something I hadn't even thought of! Now I have to figure out when to ask my doctor because I'm sure my mother will not want to hear this.
