  1. Thank you everyone for your support! It's truly a blessing to have found this site!
  2. That is sooo wonderful! Congratulations on your budding relationship, new suit, and awesome weightloss!!
  3. I knew that finally deciding to take action and not be obese anymore was going to change my life. I was prepared for the lifestlye change, the new eating habits, the different wardrobe, and the better health. At 4 months out, I'm down under 200 pounds, somewhere that I haven't been since roughly 9th grade. All of the changes have be fought for, welcome, but expected. What I never expected was that I would start to feel more confident in myself. I didn't realize how little self-confidence I had until after I started to lose weight. For years I've been the stay-at-home-mom shuttling the kids to their various activities, to school, to doctor's appointentments, to friends parties. I've let my hussband be the sole bread-winner, and we've always managed to "get by" but there isn't much left at the end of the month. For the last year, I've thought about starting my own small business. I even began the process in September of 2010, and then something stopped me from following through. At the time, I wasn't sure exactly what was holding me up, but I realize now that I was afraid. I knew that I would have to market myself, talk to strangers, and make presentations in front of people (some I know, most I don't) to really be successful. At the time, I didn't realize that I didn't believe in myself, didn't think I was someone that people would want to buy from, and was really worried that as I was standing in front of people talking, all they would be thinking about is the fat chick in front of them. Well, I started my business last week. I did my first presentation, and it went so much better than I dreamed. Everyone was listening to me, staring at me as I talked, and I didn't feel like I was the "fat one." If I can make an extra $100 a month, then my sleeve will not only help save my lifee, but get my kids the trip to Disneyland that I've wanted to take. This had truly been a life changing operation, in so many ways.
  4. My orientation date was 9/123/2010 and my Surgery was 1/3/2011. I could have had my surgery in Dec. but chose not to because I didn't want to be in pain or groggy during the holidays. I had to lose 21 lbs, and was 8 lbs under goal on the day of surgery.
  5. No, my hubby couldn't stay with me. You will have a roomie, so there isn't enough room.
  6. So glad to see that everyone is doing well. Amber, food is finally goikng down and staying down? That's good progress! I'm 9 lbs away from onderland, and people are starting to notice. It makes me a little uncomfortable at work when people comment on it, but I just say thanks. I guess i never really thought about that part, lol.
  7. I have a hard time with plain water too. Robin recommended propel zero, and that goes down really well for me. The lemon reminds me of sprite, but the grape is my favorite. I find it at Safeway all time on sale, and manage 3-4 of those a day.
  8. Hello everyone! Its been pretty quiet here lately, how is everyone doing? Well, it's been 2 months since surgery, and I'm down 31.2 lbs. A pound every 2 days is pretty good work to me. I'm eating most things now, but the worst thing that has happened is that I can no longer eat anything spicy. I love spicy meat, and every time I eat it I feel horrible, and have thrown up. I'm hoping that is goes away, but I'm going to give it a few months before I try again.
  9. I'm 24 days out today, and down 20lbs since the day of surgery. I'm not weighing in ever day, ever other day at the most, and was really stunned when I realized how much I had lost in such a short period of time. At this point, I should be on pureed foods, but I've been a little aggressive and started myself on soft foods (early, I know). I haven't tried and dense meats, but I've been eating canned tuna and eegs with no problems. I have another follow-up call with Robin on Monday, and I'm guessing that she'll okay stage IV for me. I'm really feeling a lot better on the soft foods. I don't feel drained all the time, and can do more during the day before I need a break, How is everyone?
  10. According to my NUT, eating Protein has several benefits. It keeps you feeling fuller for longer, helps you eat less calories, and helps to ensure that you maintain your muscle mass as you loss weight.
  11. For the past few months, I've needed some new athletic shoes. I have only one pair, and they are probably 4 years old. The past few times I've had to wear them for an extended period, my feet were very sore. So I decided today to go grab a new pair. Now, I've been a size 9 wide since jr. High, but for some reason (impulse/instinct) I decided to size myself today. Not only am I NOT a wide anymore, I went down a full size to an 8! I couldn't believe it when I tried them on. I'm only a little over 2 weeks out (had surgery 1/3/2011) and it's hard to believe that I changed that drastically. I tried on my old ones when I got back home, and realized that they must have been rubbing and sliding, which was probably causing the pain. When I started saving for new clothes, I never thought about the fact that I might need a whole new shoe wardrobe too!
  12. Yay for getting to eat real food! Just wondering. how come pureed is worse than full liquid?
  13. Hey All! I'm 11 days post op, and doing well. I'm just wondering about your guys experience with the 2 week phone appointment with the nutrionist. Mine isn't scheduled until next Thursday, and I'm going crazy on this full liquid diet. I'm soooo ready for something different, like some pureed soup or tuna! I'm tired of sweets stuff, I don't know if I'll want yogurt so a long, long time! Happy Friday
  14. Lisa, I had the same burning feeling, and today, one week out, it feels much better.
  15. I was sleeved January 3rd at Kaiser, have had no problems, am up and driving, off of any pain meds, and already down 11.4lbs since the day of surgery! This was the best desicion I could have made, and I'm feeling great
  16. I've used liquid egg whites in smoothies using yogurt, frozen fruit, slenda, and eggs. I only did this pre-op, haven't tried it post-op, but it tasted really good and went down smoothly.
  17. Amber, Stacey, you were sooo right! That first shower was amazing! I'm sure it was a mental cleaning too, you know sort of the first hurdle? I managesd to get comfotable on my side last night, not my left like normal, but my right side is way better that my back! So I slept about 6 hours, which was great, and haven't taken much pain medication today. When did you guys stop taking it? I'd like to be done by Monday, so that I can get back to driving m kids to school and not rely on others. So I weighed myself today, and I'm down 7lbs since Monday! Craziness!!, LOL Lisa, hope that everything went well, you should be home today I think? Happy Thursday!!
  18. I'm home, and finally feeling up to chatting a bit. Surgery went well, and I got to go home yesterday morning, I'm in some pain, but its not unbearable. The worst part has been tring to sleep, as I am a side/tummy sleeper. As much as I try, I just can't get comfortable. Liquid has been going down and staying down, and though I'm not quite at 20ozs, I'm doing pretty well. Can't wait until tomorrow, when I am cleared to have my first shower!
  19. Thank you! I'm heading out of the house right now. Soooo nervous, it actually crossed my mind to back out, but I know its just cold feet! I'll keep you guys posted, when i get out. Amber, tell you mom good luck with her recovery!
  20. My big day is tomorrow as well! Good luck to you!
  21. No!, LOL that would have been nice. Who's your mom's surgeon? Maybe he had a cancellation or something?
  22. So Monday is the big day! I don't have to check in until 11, so I get to have the whole morning to freak out, lol. I'm getting a bit nervous. moreso about the surgery itself. Can't wait to just have it all over with.
  23. Is your mom having it in Richmond or SF? And how are you feeling??
