    Mushies Stage Recipes

1 cup lowfat small curd cottage cheese 1 cup low or non-fat mayo 1 Tablespoon Uncle Dan's Original Dressing/Dip mix. Mix all together and let stand in fridge for a little while for the spices to be absorbed. This is delicious! Great on veggies, and other things.
  4. My Dr. also does fills at 6 weeks. The thing he stressed the most was that this is the healing stage. He said that we'll look at where I am at the 6 week mark, and depending on how much weight I've lost, or not, we'll use that and how I feel to determine the fill. I'm only at 2 weeks, but I am not going to worry for this next 4 weeks. I know it will work out. You will be fine. I can tell by how passionate you sound about it! Your bf just needs to understand about the first 6 weeks too. I think we'll look back on this in a year and be glad that we hung in there! Take care!

    Mushies Stage Recipes

I bought a cookbook called "Eating Well After Lap-Band Surgery" The author had Lap-Band surgery and she wrote this book to help all bariatric surgery patients eat high Protein, low-fat food at all stages after surgeries. The recipes can be pureed and food-processed and they still taste good. There are a lot of ingredients needed for the various recipes, though a few are fairly simple. She has a section in the front that tells you things to have in your pantry, etc. My husband and I went to the market and I bought almost everything she had in the lists, and I was excited to have a bunch of low fat tasty things and a book that shows me how to use them! I will say that as an obese person, I quit cooking anything that was not quick and easy, and in my Quest for something that tasted good I often ate the wrong things. So now I find myself learning to cook in a different way. In the mushy stage that I'm in, I need some better quality food that gives me the nutrients and doesn't get stuck. For later on, I will use these recipes as part of my lifestyle change in the food area. So far the recipes I've tried have been great! And I'm not afraid to spend time in the kitchen because I have another tool, this book!

How are you paying for your surgery?

We were refinancing and were able to take out more to cover the WLS. I had mine 5 days ago at NWWLS in Everett, WA. I had Dr. Kevin Montgomery, who is awesome! It cost $17,000. I'm really jazzed that it worked out! :clap2:

Highly offended by the ladies of "The View"

I didn't watch it, but wow! What a thing to say! How on earth would they know? I've only been banded for 5 days and am in the liquids phase. Not easy for me! At work today, my first day back, it was a special "to do" day and they started the day with donuts & big muffins, then my favorite pizza for lunch, and a big homemade cake! Everybody was going on about how good it all tasted. Oh man! I ate my sugar-free jell-o and Tomato Soup with fat free milk, and sent an email to my husband! I got through it, but it was NOT easy! I really don't expect it to be. One reason I like the Lap Band, is that when I am at Goal, I will know that my success came from ME working hard and making the right choices. I need that. This is a TOOL, not an easy way to being "skinny". Cricket

    hi- here for support

You can do it! Here's a big hug for you. I think you are amazing for how far you've come so far! I have only been banded for 5 days, and am on liquids still. It's hard to realize that I won't be able to have the types and amounts of food I used to eat. I look at you as an inspiration! Good job so far, and keep on going! I'm no expert yet, but what the others said about time for a fill makes sense... Cricket
  12. My name is Sandy. I'm from Kenmore, Washington. I'm 41 yrs old, married to a wonderful man named Paul, and have a great 13 yr old son Bryen. I weighed 244 at surgery. I was banded on Jan. 4th. So far I have been fairly low pain and will return to work tomorrow. My Doctor is Dr. Kevin Montgomery of Northwest Weight Loss Surgery (NWWLS) in Everett, WA. He is great! Well, everyone there is great in my book! I was taken such great care of. My surgery was uneventful and my husband has been a complete angel  ! So, I'm just getting through the liquids part of my recovery, then on to mushy foods when Dr. Montgomery gives me the all-clear. I have been researching different types of foods that I can have at the mushy stage. I bought a hand blender so I can puree Soups and things like that. I also really like tofu, so I will be able to get some Protein that has some flavors I like! After that, I will get my first fill. So, I look forward to some conversations and ideas, support, giving support, and all that! Take care, Sandy

Starting my beginning stages of Lapband!

Hi, I was just banded last Thursday, Jan. 4th. Dr. Kevin Montgomery of NWWLS in Everett, WA did my surgery, and he is top-notch! From the seminar to the pre-op appointments, the front desk gals, the nurses... All made me feel welcome, comfortable, and supported. I am just beginning this, but boy am I glad I did it! I was a self-pay, we were refinancing anyway, so we just took out more. My husband is very supportive, and I feel like I have the best chance of success FINALLY than at any other time in my life! Thank God I noticed a coworker's steady and dramatic weight loss and asked her what she was doing, or I never would have known about the Lap Band.:clap2: Take Care, Sandy
