  1. Hi Everyone! 16 days to surgery! But I now have a problem. I weigh 407lbs. (Need to lose 10 more by surgery date...yikes!). So decided that maybe I SHOULD exercise afterall, LOL. Except I have a dilemma that I am thinking you might be able to relate to....I can't find an exercise bike or elliptical that will hold me! They all have max weights of 300 to 350. What are you all using for your in-house exercise equipment?!
  2. Hi Everyone! I have my operation scheduled for Thursday! But I am now of course stressing about everything. I was told to lose 30lbs before surgery. I was down to the 28lbs mark when PMS struck yesterday and as usual my body weight went up 8lbs (typical for me is 8-12 lbs the week before my period). Will I now not be able to get surgery? Anyone have experience with missing their weight target before surgery???

    February 2011 Bandsters?

Surgery is scheduled for February 10th. My BMI is a 62. My only preop liquid is a day before, but I hafta say I think it would be easier if it were for 2 weeks before! Everytime I pass something I just get that "this will be the last time I can indulge in ___" feeling. Can't wait to see how everyone does!!
  4. Hi Mel-- I am getting banded on 2/10 and can so totally relate to the questions/freak out moments right now! But everytime I start to freak out I keep my goal in mind and it's still more powerful than the doubts, maybe that will help you too? Please be sure to keep me posted on how everything goes!! Jen
  5. That is awesome and horrible all at the same time! Any chance of using a different doctor?

    Exercise Equipment

Would absolutely love to except I can't find a stationary bike with a weight limit over 300lbs

    Bikes

Bikes do have weight limits! If you are too heavy the spokes on the tire can break. Most are rated to 250, but Schwinn goes up to 375 and after that you have to get specialty bikes. I know Plus Size living has a bike rated to 500lbs. Hope that helps!
  8. WOW! I am so happy to have found this post as none of the thin people I know understand the rudeness that seems to accompany being heavy. 1. I had a major crush on a boy who told me, "you are really great, but you are really BIG. If you lost some weight I could totally date you" 2. Sitting on the porch of my sorority house being called "Phi Piggy Piggy" 3. My overweight mother telling me I was fat because I wanted to be 4. The car salesman who told me I didn't want a 2 seater coupe because people of my size tend to take up too much of the front seat. and without a doubt the absolute worst... 5. Sitting in my seat on the airplane and the guy who was supposed to sit in the middle seat next to me complained to the flight attendent that he couldn't be squished next to a smelly, fat person VERY loudly. Smelly?! He hadn't even gotten that close to me! Why the presumptions?
  9. Thanks...I still can't believe it's coming up so soon!

  10. Hi Everyone! Excited to learn that all the hoops have been jumped, all the papers have been stamped and I got my approval letter from my insurance company! My surgery is scheduled for February 10th. Ever since I was a little girl, I have been "chubby", "a larger girl", "slightly overweight" and all the other cute phrases that people come up with to nicely state that I was FAT. I laugh when I read that people look at their younger, thinner selves for motivation...the last time I wore a bikini I was two and even then my mom should have known better. I have no grandiose ideas of being a size 8. I simply want to be a size "healthy". I want to know that when I have children one day that I will be able to keep up with them and that my weight did not cause in-vitro problems. I want to run around outside with my huskies and not panic people that I am going to die. I guess I just want to be normal. There was a time when I wore my weight as a badge of honor. You knew who your true friends were because they knew you and liked you despite the weight. After all if a person did not want to get to know you because of your weight did you really want to be friends with them? As I have gotten older I have realized that this can backfire as well. People make impressions on first meetings that you cannot change... Hope to see everyone's exciting results...
  11. Hi Nicky! Getting banded on 2/10. I am 30 and I can so relate to the "you have time" comments. My BMI is 62 and I just want to have energy again! Let me know if you want to chat!
