I attended my pre-op class yesterday and they said to not travel more than 30 mins at a time to avoid blood clots for 4 weeks. I will be going back to work a week after surgery and I travel 3 hours a day on my work commute. Has anyone else heard this before. I can understand a trip to Florida or something, but I have to go to work. Any advise would be nice, I do plan on talking to my doctor too.

Will you always be a diabetic with your band? I have read that some people will no longer have diabetes and such after the band and proper diet... Just wondering. I totally agree not to tattoo LAP BAND on my arm because it can not be forever. My wrists are already taken by tattoo anyway, but really neat idea. I would think you could order them through a jewelry store, walmart, or via mail with a form from a pharmacy. You can also find cute ones on Etsy. handmade too.

Yes, Mis73 pretty much answered why my doctor says to have one. Thank you Mis73 I am thinking about just ordering the id part and making my own bead work so I can have several different styles at an affordable cost.

I start my pre-op diet next Monday, are you taking anything for the headaches? I have a list of things to purchase this week to keep me ahead for the pre-op diet and stay focused. I am going to write out my 25 reasons today and post it everywhere!!

I will be on a liquid diet for one week before my band and it is 4th of July week!! Please say a prayer for me! I love BBQ and all the sides, but I will be saying I LOVE my protein shake....yes I do!!

I'm July 9th too! I am going to start a pre-op diet next week to help me get use to less food before my liquid diet starting July 2nd. Good luck!

I would research your area and find the best known doctor for the procedure. Contact your Insurance and see what they cover and what critiria you have to have for approval or if self pay just contact the doctors office and get started. You should be able to contact them for the information and they should help you get started. You can see all the things I did in my signature. Let me know if you have any questoins. Im still new to all this, but I might have some advise.

I just got my approval call and I will be banded July 11th. So excited!! It took 13 days for approval from my INS. Good Luck everyone!!

I believe they have waved the supervised diet, at least for my company anyway. I would really like a June band date, but I will be happy with whatever. Thanks for the reply.
