I will be banded in August - no date yet, but I turn 62 on the 13th. This is quite a present!

I am a newby and happy to find this site. I will have my surgery in August, but don't know the exact date yet. I will be 62 on August 13, so this will be quite the birthday present!

Hi! I am from Franklin, but I will have my banding at Mission Hospital n Asheville where my doctors are. I attended my first seminar on March 4th. Dr. Edwards will do the surgery. He is from the Bariatric Surgical Program there. I am scheduled for my fifth step appointment this week and will meet Dr. Edwards for the first time. I should be banded in August. I hope it is as soon as possible, as I teach and start back to school on August 19th.

I am an almost 62 year old female, very active, and I am ready to start my 41st year of teaching. School starts Ausust 19th for me, and I am really pushing to get this done in time! I am married to a very supportive husband, and I will have the surgery done at Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC. I am starting with 270 pounds, hoping to lose 100. I would love to have a mentor or hear from anyone who is having surgery around the same time. I won't have my exact date until next week. I would also like more info on how to create a weight loss time line here. Mary

Well, that makes me feel about about the long wait. Maybe 5 months is not so bad after all. I hope things get better for you quickly and you can get on to the mushy food!! Good luck, MaryD

Hi, I'm Mary from North Carolina. It has been a long road for me. I started the process in March and only just got approved by BC/CS after jumping through many hoops. This week I had my labs at the hospital. I have an appointment with the doctor next week and hope I will know the big date then. I teach school, so I am anxious to finally get this done before I have to report on August 19th. I know I will need to be on liquids for 2 weeks prior to shrink my liver. I would especially like to hear from someone from my age group (late 50's to early 60's) and see how you have fared. Labs July 15 :thumbdown:
