  1. Hey! I have always been the "Fat Girl" it never really affected my life until my health became bad. I was 24 and was told that I might have Congestive heart failure. At that point I made my final decision. I was aggravated when I went for the Psychological and the Doctor told me this was not a cosmetic procedure. I explained to him that I had been told my entire life that I had a beatiful face and a great personality. Being overweight never slowed me down. I had many friends in high school and was very popular. I was doing this because I wanted to walk up my steps and breath normal. After my suregry I lost 100lbs. Got off all meds and got pregnant. I had the fluid taken out of my band. Gained 70 lbs during my pregnancy and now I am restarting. I had my band filled a month ago and have already lost 20 lbs. Lap Band is the best thing I have ever done! I would do it all over again. I think some people have addictive presonalities and mine was for food. This has helped me control my addiction. I still battle with wanting food but the band helps me control the amount I eat. I would recommend lap band to anyone who has battled with weight problems. For me this is the best thing I have ever done!
  2. I was banded May 6th 2008! The worst part was the day before having to be on liquids and the cleaning out meds made me sick. As far asa surgery goes I was scared but when I woke up I did great. I was sore but not the worst surgery I have ever had by far! It was hard the next few weeks on liquids , then soft foods, then learnign what full was! I lost 100lbs the first year! I got pregnant and I am now starting back over. I was refilled about a month ago and I have lost 20 lbs. It is something that you have to work at if you eat the wrong things or eat to much you will know! I have had a hard time learing to chew my food up better and not eat certain things. But I can tell you it is worth every bit of it. I am no longer on any blood pressure meds and was able to get pregnant and have a wonderful baby boy. Things i never dreamed would be possable. I am a little discouraged having to start over but I know I can do it. Just becareful not to get a fill that is too much! Always drink soemthing before you leave from getting a fill. If you have any problems at all tell them I promise it does not get any better. Just because the band is tighter does not mean that it is better! Good luck!
  3. I was 350lbs when I was banded and was on 3 different types of blood pressure meds! I was 25 years old when I first started looking into the suregery! I was scared to death. I ened up being hospitialized because of retaing fluid and my blood pressure! I was told that they were not sure but it looked like I might have congestive heart failure. That is when I made my mind up that I had to do something! I had the surgery and a year later lost 100 lbs. and ended getting pregnant. I have had my band refilled and I am starting over but I do not regret it at all! I would do it again in a heart beat! I have battled weight issues my entire life and this is the best thing I have ever done! While I was pregnant and after my pregnancy my band was not full and I realized how much it helped. I had forgotten what being hungry was. I have had two fills since my pregnancy and I have already lost 20 lbs and feel so much better!
  4. Hi! I was banded May 6th, 2008! I lost almost 100lbs. Then I got pregnant and I am now starting over. It was really hard to watch my weight go back back up during my pregnancy. Afterwards I did not want to go back and have my band refilled because of my weight gain! I gained around 70 lbs from my pregnancy. I had planned to loss more weight before I got pregnant but that was not God's plan. I am starting over and a littled discouraged when I add what I have now lost to what was lost and realizing that I would be almost at my ideal weight now!
