  1. I was banded a year ago. After my last fill I started making funny gurlgling noises. It is very loud and annoying. I did not make these noises until my last fill. Does anyone else have this problem? I am sure it is just air moving from one chamber to the other...but it is annoying. Is there anything that can be done to minimize the noise? And, is it a sign I am too tight since it did not occur until my last fill. (By the way, my last fill was too tight and I went back in to take some out and now I feel my band is perfect with regards to restriction.) Thanks! Cate

    Gurgling noise??

Thank you all for the responses. I am glad to hear this is relatively normal. It is frustrating because it is so loud. And, my body makes the noise even on just liquids, not just food. For example, as I type this message I am drinking my morning coffee (no food) and I am creaking and moaning like crazy. It is so loud. But, knowing it is relatively normal and not an issue with the band is comforting. Thank you!! Cate

    chest pain question

Thanks to all who have responded. I don't have a heart issue or a history of a heart issue. However, I appreciate the suggestions and will definitely call my surgeon tomorrow. I see him Wednesday, too! My thought is that I might have eaten too much and that was the issue. I have been limited my intake to just 1/2 cup at a sitting. And, I have not had a fill so I didn't think I had a restriction. however, I noticed today that I feel it the most after I eat a meal (1/2 cup or less) or drink a large glass of water, etc. Thanks again for responding! It means a lot to me to hear from the experienced folks in the crowd! Cate
  4. I was banded on Jan 8. I had my post-op appointment with doctor on the 21st. He suggested first fill for Feb 4. I am happy with my surgery, and the healing since. Yesterday evening I started experiencing very sharp pains in my chest and upper back. I am not sure what the pain is from... and I have not had any pain since about 4 days post op. Has anyone experienced this? Any thoughts on what this might be? Thanks! Cate
  5. Happy New Year. I began my pre-surgery liquid diet this morning... great way to start the year! My surgery is January 8. Any other January 8ers?
  6. I live in the DFW area and am using TLC Edge as a self-pay patient. My surgery is scheduled for Jan 8. I have had a very good experience with TLC and have no complaints. The price includes a year of fills and all of the charges that go along with surgery (Except the liquid Protein drinks - optifast). I am on my liquid diet right now. I see the surgeon tomorrow to get the final thumbs up and will get banded on Thursday. I am nervous and anxious all at the same time! Good luck making your decision. Cate

    Confession Time

Lauren, I began my liquid diet on Jan 1. My surgery is the 8th. I have told NO ONE but my hubby... and of course the clinicians who will be performing my surgery. My entire life I have had a hard time sharing diets, etc with people because I fear judgement. I have done well with the preop diet so far. however, I am really hungry today. My surgery is only 5 days away. I hope I can make it. I think I can... I am very excited! My greatest fear is the post-surgery diet and will people wonder why I am not eatting... particularly at work. How have you handled that... the work questions? Cate
  9. I was grateful my doctor only did the one week liquid presurgery. Sorry you had to start yours on Christmas. I am guessing you are a strong person if you can do that during the holidays! Good luck to you on the 8th! We are beginning a new adventure together. Cate:smile:
  10. Good luck with your pre-surgery loss and your procedure on the 14th. The liquid diet is harder today than it was yesterday. UGH! I know it will be worth it.... Good luck and God bless!
  11. Thank you for the suggestion. I will check it out. This site really confuses me and I am still getting use to navigating the site. Thanks!!! Cate
  12. Kim, How was your surgery? I noticed you were scheduled for 12/21. How are you feeling? I, too, have Aetna HMO. I fall below their BMI rate (I am 37) and don't have a comorbidity. My Doc and I are praying that once I do the 3 month test period that they approve the surgery. How many appeals did you go through? Looking forward to hearing how you are doing, Cate
