Hi June friends! I’m having RNY June 2nd. I had a lapband for about ten years and just had that removed a few weeks ago due to lack of success and negative side effects. Now I have no restriction, no side effects, and feel like I can’t stop eating, ugh! Surgery day can’t come soon enough. Good luck to you all!

I've been buying unsweetened vanilla flavored almond milk and using that with my EAS soy Protein powder, also vanilla flavored. It's not as sweet as with milk but you could add some sweetener if you'd like. Very clumpy so I suggest using the blender to make it nice and smooth. Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk

I should clarify about the fill that was not charted... At my second fill in april, the doctor was unable to "get" my port despite stabbing me three times. So she called one of the surgeons and he was able to fit me in quickly between patients. However, I had to leave my clinic/office and go down the road to the surgery center where the surgeon was. He was able to give me my fill painlessly and with ease. He said he put in my records that he was giving me 1.5cc instead of the .5 cc that the inept doctor wanted to give me.... But apparently not.... It doesn't excuse the lack of charting, but he did say he was recording it. Maybe there was a technical problem. I don't know... But after almost passing out from the multiple stabs and digging by that doctor, I didn't care what the surgeon did besides a quick and painless fill! Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk

Thanks for the encouragement, ladies. I have been making better choices of food, especially lately. I just wanted to get the band to help me with quantity while I improve quality and it feels like the band isn't keeping up its end of the deal lol I think it'll get there eventually, but now I know what you mean by bandster hell. I've been doing my best following my doctors rules but if I only eat a half cup of food, I'll be hungry in like two hours. I'm exercising more and not drinking during meals and not having soda... I'm just not getting restriction. I'm just frustrated right now. I have an awesome surgeon, I'm trying to trust him and his judgment. Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk

So I am in a horrible mood right now and need to vent... Just had my third fill this afternoon. It was my first time actually seeing my surgeon since surgery in January. The other fills were done by the doctor at the clinic. I should preface this by saying I've been feeling NO restriction and haven't had good weight loss since my surgery nearly 5 months ago. I'm down like a total of 10 lbs. Anyway, he looks at my chart, sees that I have 3cc in my band, and says he will give me 2cc. So I lie down, he finds the port, he sticks me and and says, "hmmm, have you had any fills since the last time you were here?" (((Yeah, I went to my guy down at the corner of 2nd and Harris... Just HAD to have my fix, man!!!))) well, turns out the last fill wasn't charted so I actually already had 5cc. So he says he will only give me 1cc and that will be a significant difference. I get that they don't want to rush it, but I get charged $40 co-pay when I walk in, then after the fill I get charged $75 as I walk out. They LITERALLY get you coming and going. Just getting sick of all this time and money for hardly any help from my band.... Or maybe my doctors? Ugh. Okay, I'm done ranting... Lol Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk

I am in the same boat! Banded in January and lost around 15lbs while healing. Then the weight loss pretty much stopped. I will be going for my third fill Monday, which will be the first time since surgery that I've seen my surgeon. I'm hoping he will get my band where it needs to be. I've also been quite discouraged and have gotten into some bad habits as of late, including slacking on exercise and having too many liquid calories... Not good. I think we need to track our calories in/out and talk with out doctors about band adjustment. Stay positive! We can do this! Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk

Started on soft foods two days ago. I've had no problems whatsoever... Up until now. Just had dinner at a Mexican restaurant. Ordered the enchiladas, refried beans and rice. Ate the beans first (hello, protein). Then ate one enchilada. Now I feel horribly uncomfortable. I ate too much, too fast. Like I just ate a huge thanksgiving dinner or something. This was a very eye-opening experience. What a change from my life before the band. Looks like I need to go slower and listen to my stomach. If I ate as slowly as I should have I'd probably have stopped a couple bites into the enchilada. Live and learn! Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk

I took the milk of magnesia 4 days post op to help. I'm now 11 days out and have no problems in that area.

I suggest EAS Soy Protein powder from Walmart. It is vanilla and when mixed with milk tastes like vanilla pudding (somewhat). I've been putting a spoonful of Peanut Butter in with it for added protein and flavor. Yummy!

I'm having protein shakes but even just two a day is tough! I need to just suck it up and do it. It will make me feel better I'm sure.

I slept in my recliner for the first few nights and that allowed me to get a few consecutive hours of sleep. Good luck, it's not pleasant when you can't sleep well :-(

I'm ten days post-op and I'm so worn out! Still supposed to be on full liquids but I've gotten so hungry at times that I had some egg salad and tuna salad on different occasions. I'm still struggling at times to get my protein. Am I worn out because of that, or is this normal? I'm going back to work today and I'm just dreading it.

When was your surgery? I'm 10 days post op and I'm dealing with this too. I'm naturally a stomach sleeper and I sometimes wake up on my tummy in pain. Also could have to do with pain meds. Some are kind of addictive and if you stop taking them you could have trouble sleeping.

I love broccoli so ill have to get that. I only have cream of celery and cream of mushroom in the house right now, neither of which sounds very good to me :-P Ill let you know what I come up with :-)

Hi fellow bandsters! I'm 5 days post-op and I'm dying of hunger! Lol not really, but I'm seeking something more substantial than the broths, shakes, yogurt and milk I've been living on since Monday. I am allowed "strained low-fat cream soups" so I am looking for suggestions! I'm preparing for a trip to the grocery store tonight so what do you recommend? I'm not very familiar with cream Soups so input is appreciated :-)

I'm there too! I want chicken and broccoli and some cheese! Maybe a hot dog we can do this!!!!!

I think some people think they are complimenting us when they say this. Many times, these people have never struggled the way we have with weight so they don't know how to respond. Maybe they think the only other way to respond is, "good choice! You sure can use WLS!" I know that i would rather hear the other one! Lol
