    New to Forum: Just Banded

i am 2 weeks post op lap band. i am told to drink a protein shake in the mornings becaue the band is tighter when you first get up. i am told to take a multi vitamin every day and add vitamin D to =1000iu per day. I am also told to consume 1000 calories per day and 70grams of protein. stay away from pasta, bread, and potatoes. drink 64oz of fluid throughout the day. i havent felt restricted on anything i eat, so far, but i havent had my 1st fill yet. there are times my stomach growls and i feel hungry and i'll drink another protein shake- like slim fast or muscle milk. i was told i could add unflavored whey protein to food or shakes if i'm having difficulty getting in the 70 grams.
  4. I had my band done on 17th and stuck with the clear liquids diet. My post op appt was today and he said I could graduate to full liquids and mushy foods as my stomach will permit. i had about a cup of cream of chicken soup with no problem. I am planning on trying a little smushed turkey and mashed potatoes tomorrow, hoping I will be problem free. I do feel hungry and my stomach growls alot. I also drink too fast and get gas pains but am trying to slow down.
  5. I had my band done 7 days ago. I, too, had the "omg I actually put a foreign object in my body" moment! i am graduating from clear liquids to full liquids this week. i have been drinking 2-3 slimfasts a day and chicken or beef broth in between and have kept it down. although i do get gassy from drinking too fast and need to learn how to slow down. my stomach growls like crazy but doesnt hurt. my incision areas hurt a little if I lift or twist the wrong way but all in all am doing okay. I am looking forward to moving on to mushy then real food! I met a lady yesterday, who had her band done 5 months ago and she has lost 50lbs with little effort so I am psyched!
