  1. My name is Jackie. Im 29 years old and live in Bronx, NY. I am a mother of 3 beautiful children. My story is like so many others. Ive always been overweight. Have tried so many diets in the past. Ive made up my mind that i HAVE to get this weight off NOW. I have diabetes and high blodd pressure on both sides of my family. I have been lucky so far that I havent had any health problems so far. But I want to be healthy. I want to have more energy to play around with my kids. I want a better me. Definitely can use someone to talk to that has been through all this before.
  2. HI.. Im new on here as well.. Right now I have GHI.. But just did my paperwork through my job to switch to HIP Prime. Since I already knew i wanted to get lapband i called Hip to find out what the guidelines were. First the rep acted like she had no idea what i was talking about. Then they told me it just has to be medically neccessary. They said they would send me the info weeks ago. SO NOT HELPFUL. Im at about the same BMI as you. Also with no health issues. But from my understanding with that BMI they do it. BBBUUUTTT... Ive been getting different answers from people with HIP. Some say they require a 6 month diet. Others say they submited the paperwork without the diet and were approved. Hope that helps a little. Please respond if you find out any better info
  3. That completely sucks. But as you said. At least you found that out now and not half way through the process. Stay optimistic. Dont let the minor set backs take you off course. Thats great that you found a doctor that you're already comfortable with. Since we're done with thanksgiving I'm going to start sheduling my appointments as well. HOPEFULLY i dont run into that same kind of problem
  4. Does anyone live in Ny and have Hip?? I work for the city and currently have GHI. However, as a single mom with 3 kids the co pays are killing me  Im switching to Hip and that will take effect after the new year. I know 2 people that have Hip and were approved for a bypass. Has anyone that has Hip been approved?? Is there any special criteria?? I called Hip and the people acted like they had no idea what a lap band even was
  5. Hi Sylvia! Thats my moms name.. Im just starting my journey as well. Ive done all my research about all the different weight loss surgeries and feel like lap band is the best for me.
