  1. Ok, I have had the band for a year now. I have been keeping up with my appointments each month, but each time I go I have dropped weight. So I haven't had to get my band fill. But here lately with work stress and over working, I had wanted to eat more than usual. There are times when I can eat more of the things that I usually have issues with like bread and french fries. I'm wondering if I need a fill. I have heard horror stories about people with the band that don't follow the rules. Does any veteren bandsters have any advice.
  2. Does anyone have a home remedy for constipation? I have been drinking a lot of water, but I have to take new medicine and it is causing this issue. Help, I have not drop a pound because I feel that I am not getting rid of anything.
  3. I am about a solid 8lbs away from onederland, however it has been a little hard. I am excited about it, I just need to get motivated to stick to my diet and exercise. I tell you what, we should both set a short term goal to get down to that 199 by the end of this month. What do you think?
  4. Don't obsese about one bad day. It is not easy, we still have the mindset that food is our best friend in the beginning. It didn't take you one day to gain weight and one day of 1200 will not make your diet fail. I always had the mindset of everything in moderation. Some people totally went healthy post op, but I found for me was not to restict my cravings as long as I don't over do it. My surgery was on 10/29/11 and I weighed 292 and as of this morning 207. Don't rush your weight loss, I find that some rush with weight loss and they end up with lost more loss skin issues.
  5. It could be some of the foods your eating as well. I know that there are some days when I can't eat and eat. Then there are some when I say why bother. I know its because I still crave bread and potateos, at those times I give in. I may be able to eat some of those foods at night, but early in the day I can forget about it. If i do try to have those forbidden things early in the day then I notice that if I'm having complications with them I will be having issues with food going down for the rest of the day and sometimes until that next morning. This may be totally different for you , but I noticed thats how it goes with my band issues. Don't give up remember we have been use to eating one way and then all of a sudden we have to learn to do it another way.
  6. The truth is that everybody is different. I was a fast healer and I got hungry before a lot of people did after my surgery. Remember you are in the first stages of getting fills and you haven't found your sweet spot yet. Pace yourself. I find that some people on here make drastic changes very soon. If they can do that good for them, but I realized that I was use to eating a certain way and my body and mine could not adjust that fast. People forget the lapband unlike any other weight loss surgery tends to be slower than the others. I think its a good thing because think about it if we lost the weight really fast we would really be dealing with a lot of lose skin. Don't be so hard on yourself, eat. Give your metabolism time to adjust if you are starving your self you could be pulling down your metabolism, pace, pace. The weight will come off and the other person was right about the water as well. Protein will keep you fuller longer than anything else.
  7. I had to get more taken out of my band than was put in on my last fill because it was too tight. For the last two weeks I have been able to eat like I did before my second fill. I could have sworn I was going to gain, but instead I actually lost 6lbs. I did start the month off with a lot of exercise daily, but as the tempature got into the triple digits I didn't even bother. I just wanted to post this too let some of your who has had a month were fluid was removed not to freak out, instead exercise and try not to get obsessed about lossing. The more we stress the less we loss. Stress can also cause weight gain.
  8. Thanks for sharing your journey. I needed to hear that. I had my surgery at the end of Oct, and I started off pretty good, but because I'm off in the summer and I got too much fluid in my band with the last fill they had to take out more than they put in so I am a little less restricted and have really done some bad things these last few weeks. I wanted to be a 100lbs lighter for my bandannversary, but I may have to settle with 80-90lbs. Thanks you inspired me.
  9. Girl don't sweat the small stuff, my scale goes from one range to the other. No scale will say the exact same reading all the time. Plus you have to take into account if you have eaten, pooped, drank tons of water. Its a lot of things that can make a scale read a certain way. Don't sweat the scale instead use body measurements and how your clothes are fitting. Remember there will be some weeks when your body won't show the difference in weight on the scale, but it will show up in you loose clothes. I had to tell myself that because I was getting obsessed with the numbers. Then I realized that my body is different than others. I weigh 214 now and can were size 14 in pants while someone else who is 214 may be in an 18. Trust you body on this journey.
  10. I was banded 10/29/10, 277 and now about 214, in all with preop I have lost 78lbs. Whoo hoo. Just need to get to 175.
  11. Like honk said, wether get a fill or unfill my dr. puts me on liquids for 1 day and mushies for 1 day. The last time I went to the dr I had some fluid removed and she put me on liquids 2 days and mushies 2 days it was a little hard but it help my body adjust. Try liquids one day and mushies the next day after that. I surprised she didn't require it.
  12. Thanks I needed some advice. I do work out and break a sweat. I guess the problem for me would probably be too much carbs. I will take your advice and see how things go. Be looking for me to PM you soon. And yes it was 10/29/10. lol
  13. I would like to comment on this as well, but sometimes I can eat and sometimes I can't it really just depends on the day. It is good to hear that someone has lost 104lbs. I had my surgery on 10/29/11 and so far I down about 68lbs. One month I did really good about lossing and the next month it seems like I hit a plateau. Some of you guys can still handle bread, but it is extremely difficult for me to eat a burger. I wish I could be down 100 by my anniversary, I just don't know what to do. I work out, watch my eating but I am still not really lossing. What were some of the things vlp1968? I could use some advice.
  14. The first one I remember was when I was trying on the jeans that my mother bought me way back when. I thought that I still had a ways to go before I could wear them again. I tried them on to keep myself motivated because I was a little down and wouldn't you know they were too big! My last one was going into Rainbow Shops and bought a dress that was on the skinny side, not plus. And just one more we have to keep each other motivated so, last one. I can fit a 13/14 from Rue 21. I have not be able to do that since the 90's. Congrats and keep it up!
  15. I had the same issue of thinking that I should be 30lbs lighter a month after my surgery. The truth is that we can not compare our weight loss with others. Don't worry if you are working with the band it will do its job. Set a goal for minimun of 4lbs a month. That is the way the band works. Like the other post said its your body wondering what the hell is going on! And remember some people have more weight to loss than others so the beginning weight loss for them will be more. It has really only been a month believe me you will loss.
  16. I can just say I am glad that you are ok and I appluad your strength. My grandmother is battling cancer. I wish I could somehow give you a hug via computer. All I ask is that you talk to a Dr about this situation. Food supplies strength for our body and if that is what your body is craving I don't think you should deny it, you said you were craving protien not chips or ice cream or sweets so to start off that a good thing.
  17. I did not feel restriction until my 3rd fill and it sounds like to me you have just been hungry and craving all of the food you have cut out of your life for a while. Don't beat yourself up because you can still eat more than two cups. I can still eat more than two cups of food sometimes. Remember you had the surgery in one day, but you have been eating a certain way for a while. It is an adjustment just like getting over you ex. I got a dog to help me out with the fast food fix. I don't go get fast food after work because I know when I get home I will have to take the dog out and when I get back my food will be cold and fried cold food is not good. Don't beat yourself up all things take time and you are doing great. You already made a big step. This all takes time. I was a little discouraged in the beginning because some bandsters were losing more than I was, but we have to keep on going. Also pray I would not have made it through all the this if I did not pray.
  18. You guys are right. I have to use the band as a tool and not just a magic genie. I was just going through the ups and downs of weight loss blues last night is all. I will not allow myself to be discourage based on whats hot and new.
  19. Thanks guys for all the advice. Yes, I should have given her the benefit of the dought, but I know my friend. I have already apologized several different times about not telling her. I could sleep at all last night about it. Then I started to think of all the time she did things that made me question our friendship. I still forgave her and moved on, so if she does not forgive me I guess our season iss up. I myself don't see what the major big deal is because I would move on, I didn't get pissed when she didn't tell me that she came into some money a few months ago, she has to understand what I did to myself was my business at the time until I was ready. I feel like sometimes people only like you better when your down, I refuse to apologize forn upgrading myself.
  20. Thanks for sharing that with me. I now see that I could have been wrong in a sense. However, you didn't hear all her comments about surgery. I may have been wrong for not telling her, but at first she acting like things were ok with us. She even came over to my house and had drinks because she had no money to buy drinks one night and then after that she stop calling me. Before that she called and pretended to just want to have our usual girl talk on the phone, but then later she sent a text because she needed to borrow something. If she was hurt and pissed just leave me alone all together, don't come around when there is something you want and then when you get it or don't need it anymore remember that I hurt you because I didn't tell you.
