I am on the left, lol...but the young lady on the right used to be a size 14 and was diagnosed with a metabolic disorder, given metformin and lost that much weight - so no, not always is surgery needed - make this your last option. If a 4$ a month prescription, better eating and exercize worked for me too, I wouldn't be here. I am working on educating myself not just on VGS and bariatric surgery as a weight loss tool, but on all aspects of obesity.
