Great news!! As of 5/20/05, Anthem BC/BS now covers the Lap-Band System as a medically necessary weight loss option! My surgery was originally denied and my surgeon did an appeal. The appeal was approved, and I found out that they added the Lap-Band to their obesity surgery policy. I had the procedure on 9/21/05, and as of this morning I have lost 17 pounds! Hang in there - I think the other insurances will be quick to follow.
