I am just starting this process and I am already annoyed. My husband has "great" insurance BCBS of Wyoming through a coal mine here.. Ha!! First I found out I had to wait a year to try and get my WLS. I understand that they consider being morbdly obese a pre-existing condition. Whatever!! I am getting close to my one year wait being over, I called the insurance company about 2 months ago to make sure I didn't have to do a supervised diet, so that if I did I could get it started. The first lady told me no, so I just let it go. Well now that I am getting really close I called again to see what all they would require. The second lady I talked to seemed to indicate that they do require a supervised diet and exercise program, but she wasn't 100% sure. So I requested a copy of the criteria for WLS so I can see for myself. I haven't gotten it yet, but I have a feeling in the pit of my stomach that I will have to do at least 6 months of diet and exercise. I am so torn up, I have dieted and exercised my brains out, but not supervised. All I have are charges to my bank account for gym and WW. I have waited almost a year and now I may have to wait till 2010 to get my band :tongue:... Sorry this is so long no one else understands, I needed to vent!!
