Dr. Morris Washington is a bariatric and weight loss surgeon located in and affiliated with Bayshore Community Hospital. Dr. Washington has 21 years of experience performing Lap-Band and other weight loss surgery. Currently 64 of our members have Dr. Washington listed as their Lap Band Surgeon.
Dr. Washington received his undergraduate studies at the Sophie Davis Center for Biomedical Education at the City University of New York (an accelerated six year BS/MD program). He attended medical school at New York Medical College in Valhalla, New York. He completed his surgical residency and a fellowship in surgical endoscopy at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City. After completion of his surgical training, Dr. Washington practiced in an academic setting, teaching surgery and surgical endoscopy at Beth Israel Medical Center and Saint Vincent’s Hospital and Medical Center both located in New York City. He was Director of Surgical Endoscopy at Saint Vincent’s Hospital and Medical Center and held academic appointments as Clinical Instructor of Surgery at the Albert Einstein School of Medicine and New York Medical College. Dr. Washington has authored several articles and chapters in the field of surgery and surgical endoscopy. Dr. Washington began his practice of bariatric surgery in 2002 starting the bariatric programs at CentraState Medical Center and Bayshore Community Hospital both located in New Jersey. Under his leadership as the Medical Director of Bariatric Surgery a Center of Excellence status was obtained. He is a committee member of the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) and served as treasurer and vice president of the New Jersey Chapter of the ASMBS. Dr. Washington has recently relocated to South Carolina to continue his career in bariatric surgery joining the medical staff of Conway Medical Center. Dr. Washington is passionate about the field of bariatric surgery; he truly loves what he does and treats everyone of his patient as if they were a friend or relative. “If you’re not doing well, he’s not doing well.” Just ask his patients.
