Dr. Alexander Abkin is a bariatric and weight loss surgeon located in and affiliated with Bayonne Medical Center. Dr. Abkin has 16 years of experience performing Lap-Band and other weight loss surgery. Currently 149 of our members have Dr. Abkin listed as their Lap Band Surgeon.

Dr. Abkin is a diplomate of the American Board of Surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is a Regular member of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. Dr. Abkin has more than 12 years of experience in advanced laparoscopic surgery and 11 years experience in laparoscopic weight loss surgery. Dr. Abkin was among 30 bariatric surgeons who were selected to train other bariatric surgeons in placement of the REALIZE BAND in the United States and was the first to implant the band in the state of New Jersey in October, 2007. Dr. Abkin was the FIRST surgeon on the EAST COAST to offer SINGLE SITE GASTRIC BYPASS in 2009.
