Dr. Scott Laker is a bariatric and weight loss surgeon located in and affiliated with DMC. Dr. Laker has 16 years of experience performing Lap-Band and other weight loss surgery. Currently 14 of our members have Dr. Laker listed as their Lap Band Surgeon.

There are few physicians who are more compassionate or committed to the treatment of the bariatric patient than Dr. Laker. Dr. Laker applies his expertise in laparoscopic surgery and his strong understanding of obesity as a disease to his patients every day, demonstrating the care and concern that has made his bedside manner well known throughout Michigan. Dr Laker has particular interest in bariatric surgery and it's profound, positive effect on diabetes. He is studying this incredible phenomenon in hopes of being able to provide alternate therapies for diabetes in the future. Dr. Laker completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Wisconsin, Madison and his medical degree at Boston University School of Medicine. Dr. Laker completed a surgical residency at New York University and a fellowship in Advanced Laparoscopy and Bariatric Surgery at Hackensack University Hospital in New Jersey, a world renowned center for the treatment of obesity.
