Dr. Matthew Weiner is a bariatric and weight loss surgeon located in and affiliated with DMC. Dr. Weiner has 19 years of experience performing Lap-Band and other weight loss surgery. Currently 37 of our members have Dr. Weiner listed as their Lap Band Surgeon.

Dr. Weiner is a board certified general surgeon and Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He has been practicing laparoscopic bariatric surgery since 2006. Dr. Weiner completed his medical degree at the University of Michigan and graduated in the top quarter of his class. He then went on to complete his surgical training at New York University. After finishing his residency, Dr. Weiner was a faculty surgeon at Wayne State University for five years before starting his own private practice. Dr. Weiner is committed to taking the extra time needed to ensure that his patients understand the nature of the procedure they will be undergoing and to address any questions or concerns they may have before or after the surgery. By providing his patients with his email address, they have the ability to reach him in a timely manner to answer any questions or concerns that may arise.Dr. Weiner's weight loss surgery practice has resulted in 100's of patients finally winning their war against obesity. Dr. Weiner has developed a specialized nutritional program that maximizes patient's weight loss after surgery. His knowledge and passion for nutrition and fitness are contagious and he is dedicated to ensuring that his patients are properly educated and supported throughout their journey. Dr. Weiner is an active member of the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgeons (ASMBS) and is the current secretary of the Michigan state chapter of the ASMBS.Dr. Weiner performs Gastric Bypass, Sleeve Gastrectomy and Lap Band procedures. He also performs revisional surgery for those patients who have regained weight after bariatric surgery. Dr. Weiner's non-surgical weight loss program, the Physicians Weight Loss Institute of Michigan is available to his post-operative patients, as well as patients who have regained weight after bariatric surgery performed by other surgeons.
