Dr. Roy Shen is a bariatric and weight loss surgeon located in and affiliated with Lowell General Hospital. Dr. Shen has 19 years of experience performing Lap-Band and other weight loss surgery. Currently 19 of our members have Dr. Shen listed as their Lap Band Surgeon.

Dr Roy Shen is on the medical staff at both Lowell General Hospital. He is the chief of surgery at Lowell General Hospital.Doctor Roy Shen joined our staff in 2003, and is a welcome addition to the Weight Management Center in Lowell,Mass.He completed his medical training at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, PA, and he did his residency at the University of Illinois Metropolitan Group Hospital in Chicago, IL. He also completed a fellowship in Minimally Invasive Surgery under the direction of Christine Ren, MD, one of the most prominent bariatric surgeons in the US. He is the first surgeon in the Merrimack Valley to offer the Laparoscopic Adjustable Gastric Band (Lap-Band?) to his bariatric patients. He has published several papers on different aspects of bariatric surgery, and is a Full Member of the American Society of Bariatric Surgeons (ASBS), and board certified.
