About Amit Parikh

Dr Parikh moved to Lake County in July 2011 after completing a Minimally Invasive Surgical Fellowship in Advanced Laparoscopic General and Bariatric Surgery at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. Dr Parikh gained invaluable skills and knowledge about performing advanced minimally invasive surgery during his fellowship for a range of health conditions including colon disorders, hiatal hernia, inguinal hernia, metabolic disease, pancreatic tumors, reflux, and stomach tumors. 

During his fellowship he developed a further passion for weight loss (bariatric) surgery. Also during his fellowship he spent time performing research in the field of metabolic surgery and helping educate trainees. Dr Parikh has performed numerous weight loss surgeries, including laparoscopic and robotic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass, laparoscopic and robotic sleeve gastrectomy, laparoscopic gastric band insertion, laparoscopic and robotic gastric band to bypass and/or sleeve gastrectomy, robotic vertical banded gastroplasty to gastric bypass conversion with excellent results.  

Dr Parikh is the only robotic bariatric surgeon in Lake County Illinois. Dr Parikh has a strong commitment to weight management. He and his team will work to the best of their ability to help you reach your health goals.
