Dr. Bernita Berntsen, Bariatric Surgeon Bernita Berntsen, MD, FACS, FASMBS is an experienced general and bariatric surgeon practicing at The University of Kansas Physicians Topeka General, Vascular & Bariatric Surgery Center located in Topeka, Kansas. She graduated from Pittsburg State University and earned her medical degree at the University of Kansas School of Medicine where she also completed her residency. She enhanced her educational studies by receiving advanced training in gastrointestinal laparoscopic surgery, breast surgery, and bariatric surgery. She is an Assistant Professor of Surgery in the Bariatric Surgery Division at the University of Kansas Medical Center.
