Michael W Blaney, M.D., F.A.C.S.

Dr. Michael Blaney is a bariatric and weight loss surgeon located in and affiliated with Doctors Hospital. Dr. Blaney has 16 years of experience performing Lap-Band and other weight loss surgery. Currently 25 of our members have Dr. Blaney listed as their Lap Band Surgeon.

Dr. Michael W. Blaney received his undergraduate degree at the United States Military Academy, West Point and his medical degree at Emory University. He went on to complete his surgical training at Eisenhower Army Medical Center and spent the next four years in the Army as a staff surgeon at Fort Benning, Georgia. Dr. Blaney is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and is an active member and Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgeons. He has special interests in advanced laparoscopy, endoscopy, weight loss surgery and reflux disease. In the bariatric field he offers a wide variety of surgical options ranging from LapBand, Realize Band, Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy, and Gastric Bypass. Through the bariatric program, he helps guide patients in making an informed decision about which surgery may work best for them.
