About Lee Grossbard

Dr. Lee J. Grossbard has been involved with bariatric surgery for over twenty years. After completing his residency at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Massachusetts, he moved to Florida in 1984. Since that time, he has been involved in multiple bariatric procedures, including the Garren Edwards Balloon, gastric stapling procedures, vertical banded gastroplasty (VBG) and gastric bypass procedures. He has been performing Laparoscopic Adjustable Gastric Banding (LAGB) surgery since June, 2001, when the FDA approved this procedure. He is one of the most experienced LAP-BAND System surgeons in the United States. Dr. Grossbard is currently performing the gastric banding procedure exclusively. Dr. Grossbard formerly was a Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery at the University of South Florida in Tampa and was involved with advanced laparoscopic training of residents through James A. Haley Veterans Administration Hospital in Tampa, Florida. He also taught advanced laparoscopic skill courses as well as preceptorships in various hernia procedures for multiple companies. Dr. Grossbard also preceptors surgeons in the gastric banding procedure. He is a general surgeon certified by the American College of Surgeons. He is one of a few physicians that not only performs the LAP-BAND Procedure, but has had the procedure performed on himself. Since October 2002 he has lost a total of 100 pounds! Dr Grossbard has been named by INAMED to be a founding member of the Lap-Band Leadership Institute Program. This small group of elite physicians has demonstrated the highest standards of surgical excellence and patient education as well as exceptional long-term care.

About this directory profile

What does a directory listing mean?

A listing helps you find practice information and member experiences. It does not establish clinical quality, current credentials, or availability.

How do I use member reviews?

Read the date and the details of each experience. Reviews are personal accounts. They do not predict your results or replace a clinical consultation.

What if a detail is missing or outdated?

Ask the practice for current information. Use “Suggest an update” on the surgeon profile to report a correction to BariatricPal.
