Jonathan A Schoen, M.D.

____________________________________________________________________ Dr. Jonathan Schoen, Bariatric Surgeon Jonathan Schoen, MD, FACS is board-certified and the Medical Director of the University of Colorado Hospital - Surgical Weight Loss Center. He was instrumental in creating and developing the bariatric surgery program. He is an Associate Professor of Surgery at the University of Colorado Hospital and the Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Dr. Schoen attended Colgate University where he earned a B.A. in biology and attended Touro College School of Health Sciences receiving an M.A. in biomedical sciences. Dr. Schoen traveled to Technion, Israel where he earned his medical degree at the Institute of Technology. He then completed his residency and internship at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center and a fellowship in minimally invasive surgery at the University of Colorado Hospital. Dr. Schoen is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), a member of the American Society for Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) and the founding President of the ASMBS Colorado chapter. He is also a member of The Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES), the Denver Academy of Surgery, Southwestern Surgical Congress, and the Colorado Chapter of the American College of Surgery. As an award-winning surgeon, Dr. Schoen is involved in research studies, authored numerous abstracts, articles, and book chapters. He has lectured and presented around the world, and his expertise has been sought out by news and media outlets. Dr. Schoen has volunteered his surgical skills to International Surgical Missions in the Philippines, Ecuador, and Guatemala.
