Following medical school he completed a residency in general surgery at The University of Tennessee at Memphis. Dr. Finnell also did a fellowship in laparoscopic surgery at Hackensack University Medical Center in New Jersey, one of the busiest centers in the country for laparoscopic bariatric surgery. He also preforms laparoscopic gastric bypass and the Lap Band.
