David Wernsing, MD

Dr. David Wernsing is a bariatric and weight loss surgeon located in and affiliated with Pennsylvania Hospital. Dr. Wernsing has 16 years of experience performing Lap-Band and other weight loss surgery. Currently 18 of our members have Dr. Wernsing listed as their Lap Band Surgeon.

Dr. Wernsing is a clinical assistant professor of surgery at Penn Medicine. A graduate of Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, he completed his surgical residency at Pennsylvania Hospital. Dr. Wernsing specializes in minimally invasive surgery for weight loss procedures and treatment of cancers of the abdomen. Dr. Wernsing has a particular clinical interest in bariatric surgery and has been instrumental in advancing bariatric surgery techniques at Pennsylvania Hospital. He was the first surgeon at Pennsylvania Hospital to perform a single-incision laparoscopic surgery that utilizes one access point and produces little or no visible scar. Dr. Wernsing is board certified and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
