About Sergey Lyass

Dr. Lyass received his medical degree from the Moscow Medical University in 1985. He served his internship and residency in General Surgery at the Department of Surgery at the Hebrew University-Hadassah Medical Center in Jerusalem, Israel, and then followed up with a senior residency at the Department of Surgery at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City. Dr. Lyass completed his training at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Los Angeles, as a senior surgical resident and then chief surgical resident in the Department of Surgery.
Following his extended residency training, Dr. Lyass completed a clinical fellowship as well as a research fellowship in Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery at Cedars-Sinai's Medical Center, Los Angeles, CA.

Board certified in General Surgery, Dr. Lyass is the author of more than 100 papers in peer reviewed journals and presentations on Laparoscopic and Bariatric Surgery.

Dr. Lyass is committed to the advancement of laparoscopic bariatric surgery techniques and the exceptional treatment of the bariatric population. Dr. Lyass is an expert in Laparoscopic Bariatric and Minimally Invasive Surgery and he is specialized in performing Laparoscopic Gastric Banding, Laparoscopic Gastric Bypass, Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy and Revisional Surgery for previously failed weight loss procedures.
His clinical expertise extends well beyond weight loss surgery. Dr. Lyass routinely performs Laparoscopic Foregut and Colon surgery, repair of the abdominal wall hernias using minimally invasive technique, laparoscopic spleen, pancreas and adrenal procedures.
