  1. I'm currently waiting and I'm a nervous wreck. I have been calling the doctors office and the insurance every day. I'm being a bug but they don't seem to mind. Apparently the documents have been sent but BCBS IL says they don't see it. I'm worried about being denied because I started out at 39.5 BMI and I'm not sure if I meet the co-morbidity requirement. I have high cholesterol and asthma. I'm crossing my fingers that I will hear something tomorrow. What an intense experience!
  2. I think that I am going through the peak of pre-surgery anxiety. I'm concerned about everything. I'm worried that the insurance won't cover it, that I will fall behind in school, you name it, I've thought about it. I just need to breath!
  3. I'm curious as to how many of us have been forced to "eat it all" as children. I learned that not eating was wasteful. It is a hard habit to break. One solution that I have found...use a smaller plate.
  4. My doctor adjusts the diet according to BMI. It is all liquid though, actually Protein shakes. The norm is 2 weeks but he said I only have to do 2 days. The reason they do it is for multiple reasons. The diet allows your liver to shrink which allows better manipulation while the surgeon operated. Also, it prepares your body for the large change. I think that this is a physical and mental change. You are preparing your stomach and mind for a restricted diet. I could imagine that if this wasn't a requirement people would be eating the night before like they were on death row and ready for execution.
  5. I was scheduled for surgery for December 17th which was the beginning of my Christmas break. Unfortunately, I had to change dr's and there has been a delay. I'm currently waiting for my pre-auth and the surgeon does not schedule until auth has come through. I may have to take a few days off from school now. They said I will be in the hospital for two days which isn't bad but I'm concerned with my ability to recover and handle homework at the same time. I go to school online which is helpful but I'm still concerned. Did anyone else go through this?
  6. I'm currently waiting approval. I'm an anxious mess. My Dr.'s office won't schedule until I receive an official approval. I'm concerned because I'm in school and I was originally scheduled for Dec 17. I had to switch doctors (long story). What a frustrating situation. I'm just crossing my fingers and hoping for the best. Good luck!
