  1. This thread inspired my to go home last night and try on an old pair of pants that I assumed were 2 sizes too small for me. And they fit perfectly!!! Now I am on a mission to throw out and donate all of these baggy clothes I have been hiding under! I have a long way to go but these little victories can really be the best! Best of luck to all of us!
  2. I do have a chocolate tooth so I generally avoid all sweets. However, I tried baker's chocolate because it has no sugar and of course that is gross. But then I found that Lindt and Girodelli (sp?) have super extra dark chocolate bars with little sugar (but beware of the cococa fat). Lindt has a 85% and 90% cocoa bars which is almost baker's chocolate. So with that (and its an acquired taste), I find that I can eat one square just every once in awhile and my craving is taken care of. Best of luck to you.
  3. Yes, and it is usually a money waste because the portions just are not the right size either. Sometimes I will go get a small cup of Chili at Wendys or some Soup at a deli but I mostly fly solo because eating a sit down meal just seems like too much for a lunch nowadays. The upside is that I can often get a 20-30 min walk in at lunch time, when I never would before... Luv it!
  4. Yogurts are nice. Sometimes healthy or light soups in the grab and go cans. Different types of cheese. Sometimes a portien bar or a small cup of nuts. Occassionally just some rolled up or chopped up lunch meat. Sometimes the smallest sized lunchables that have just a few crackers and a few cheese pieces and some lunch meat pieces work well or a grab and go item. Be careful of the crackers though.
  5. Its fine for me but I can end up eating too much without thinking. I think that is the nature of popcorn... I just got the 100 calorie minibags to try that. But I do realize that popcorm is not a real good food choice because it is all carbs and little substance... Best of luck to you.
  6. Thats awesome and good for you!!! It only goes down from there.. :w00t: I hit into the 250s this week and feel so ALIVE about it!!! Best of luck!
  7. There is a support group at the Northwest Weight Loss Surgery center in Everett, WA.
  8. I have always just thought salads were out. Now I think that I will try a little.
  9. Always having to pull my underwear up.. :frown: And walking at lunch time today, my thigh hurt some so I reached down and rubbed it and I felt muscle and bone, instead of jelly-like legs!!! I love this thread, it is funny and inspiring!
  10. I don't "glup" anything either but I also find that cold liquids go down the slowest and drinking, even just a sip, with or shortly after food is a big mistake-for me...
  11. I am a Mayo Bandito too and have stayed at the same pounds for the last six weeks, part of which was a 2 week vacation that made things harder. I got a fill yesterday and I am journaling my food more closely now.... Best of luck!
  12. Thanks for posting everyone. I was on the fence but I am going to make that fill appointment now. I am happy that I can't just pig out and way over eat, but I can still eat more than I should....
  13. Days 2 and 3 suck for probably most everyone. Day 4 and out will be getting better for you I would think. Best of luck to you and call your doc if you need reassurance.
  14. 3.4cc in a 10cc band and I have felt no restriction until my 3rd fill a few weeks ago. Best of luck to you.
  15. Can you or anyone explain more about what a "dilated pouch" is??? Thanks much!
  16. OK, what are some of the "manuevers"? I am new to this and get that stuck feeling a lot and do not really know what to do. At home I usually walk around some and flap my arms like a chicken occassionally... Drinking Water seems to always make it worse, like I am really choking.
  17. At my first fill last Thursday, the nurse checked and found 3.4cc in my 10cc band and then she put another 1cc in too. However, I feel almost no restriction and it is frustrating.
  18. 1. naked. 2. Dr. said 2 weeks for swimming or bath in water. Showers right away okay. 3. I would say 2-3 weeks before your incisions make you feel okay about sex. There are stiches under the skin so you want a little time to heal. Then again, maybe it just depends on the type of sexual activity... 4. I wish someone really laid into me about really liquids only for the first FULL week. I went to mushies just a few days too soon and I was miserable amd uncomfortable. You just feel so, so hungery after a pre-op diet and surgery and only liquids that hunger strikes and you want something in your gut and the more you try to eat, the more you want. At least for me.... Best of luck. I was banded May 14th and I surely do not regret my decision and I am still excited!!
  19. It took me 10 days or so to really feel like my insides were okay. Same hernia and pain you mentioned. I can say please do follow the liquid diet for a full week. Adding any type of non-liquid food the first 1-2 weeks only makes the pressure worse......
  20. As an update, its been another 24 hours and I am feeling a little better. I am sure I just ate way too much.... I kind of felt like the snake that just ate a huge egg.... Over the last 24 hours I felt all the stuff more lower in my stomach and I am sure things are passing now. The good part, I guess, is that I haven't been hungry for days now. But I am keeping up with fluids the best I can. Thanks for all of the help and suggestions!!
  21. I used the EAS 17g protein shakes for 10 days because of the less calories and they worked great. I was able to have 4 a day and a small meal and be under 800 calories a day easily. It knocked off 12 pounds pretty easily.
  22. I am a little worried. surgery was May 14th. Doc said watery liquids for 48 hours and then slowly move up from there. I did the 2 days of watery liquids and then progressed by adding soft yogurts, nonfat pudding, and drinkable soups. Yesterday I added some runny creamed corn and a good portion of runny instant potatoes. I had been feeling really hungry and my old ways got me into eating too much I think. At least 2 cups between the corn and spuds. I ate some and waited an hour and then ate some more and then again after another hour becasue I wasn't feeling a fullness. Now I just full stuffed and its been almost 24 hrs. I tried a shake and water today but I can't get much in my stomach and it feels more and more uncomfotable. I have been taking Gas-x and tried walking but they are not really helping either. Some burping but no vomiting or PBs or anything. I have my post-op appt. tomorrow so I am hoping that something breaks loose by then.... Any thoughts or ideas?
  23. Best of luck. And be prepared that your shoulder may hurt after. Oddest thing. If you have pain meds already filled, make sure to bring them with you.
  24. My almost 6 year old is very versed in the band and knows all of the rules and watched the manufacturer and YouTube videos with me many times. She has a need to understand and know more so it all worked out well. As for negative family input, do remember that they are not looking at it through your eyes. They are probably not the extra large ones always hiding from the camera. They haven't had diet after diet fail them or suffer any shame because of it. They are not you. Best of luck
  25. I was May 14th too. I think you are tight in the stomach area but probably the same as any lapriscopic surgery really. Move slow when bending and use pain meds as needed. I have a 6 year old and a 3 year old and I am not lifting them but I am cleaning up after them as usual. :rolleyes2:
