  1. I was out walking a week after the surgery, but did not exercise for 6 weeks. The difference is that lifting with your arms requires the tensioning of muscles going through the abdomen which could cause a problem with the healing of the incisions. I was walking about an hour each day after the 2nd week. Exercise does not only build up the muscles being used, but helps the muscle tone of the muscles all over the body. Walking for an hour will build up your arms, back, etc. and it will cause those other muscles to tone up.
  2. I am responding to the thread in general, not to the last member that replied. Wiki's encyclopedia says, "A common reported occurrence for banded patients is regurgitation of non acidic swallowed food from the upper pouch. This is commonly known as PB'ing and is not to be considered normal but a point to review how the patient is eating." Well, lately, I have graduated from regurgitation of non acidic swallowed food to regurgitation of acidic swallowed food . I think that the regurgitation that I used to do was from the esophagus, but now the regurgitation is from the upper pouch, hence the acid. Not that I have the right to critique Wiki, but I think they are wrong. PB'ing may be the regurgitation of food by lap-band patients, but if the food is coming from the pouch (which is part of the stomach) it would/should be called vomiting.
  3. Hi everyone. I just signed up today and wanted to welcome you to my computer. I guess to you, I am the newbe, but to me, you are all newbe's. I had my lap-band installed in September of 2002. I weighed 327 :hungry: prior to the surgery and am 233 now:scared:. I am 5'9" and would like to get down to 180. I would also like to hit the lottery. I came here because my daughter-in-law got tired of hearing me complain about my lap-band problems and tired of seeing me spitting up food everytime we eat together. So she figured she would find a sight for me to get some help. Nosey, ain't she? I'll post my problems in the appropriate places and I may even be able to help others by answering some questions. How come this forum doesn't have a spell-checker?
