  1. Yes, I understand. It sounds like you are struggling more with head hunger.
  2. Omg, PLEASE tell me she didn't call and wake y'all up! The woman has a LOT of flippin' nerve, is all I can say.
  3. Omg, YAAAAAAYYYYYYY!!!!!! I'm SOOOO EXCITED for you!!!!
  4. That's FANTASTIC!!!! Congrats!!!!
  5. Nope, that's DELICIOUS!
  6. Thank you for the kind words. I will say, though, kids' pics (a couple) is one thing. Fifteen minutes of feeling like you got stuck in your neighbor's living room while they whip out the slide projector as a captive audience is another thing altogether -- especially when it infringes on the time one has to talk to him afterwards. Just food for thought for the doc.
  7. I see! :thumbdown::Banane20::laugh: :tt2:
  8. Thank you for your response, and I will also clarify (and maybe offer some insight) as well. I have run into some of Dr. Eric's patients, and they appear to love him and his staff as much as I love Dr. Robert and his. You couldn't get me to leave Dr. Robert, Paul, Sue, and Shara for a million dollars, and I'm sure Dr. Eric's patients would say the same. My biggest beef with Dr. Eric was how I felt he handled the matter of the insurance and the huge up-front fee. I just felt it was a bit... shady. And when you're putting out as much money as we do as patients, we want to not feel as if we're being sold a bill of goods -- even if we're not. We don't want to FEEL like we are. I too had a rather extensive meeting with my doctor, with Paul, and with Sue before my surgery, and it did not require the $450 or so fee. Maybe your office does more, I don't know. But again, as a patient, we want to know what we are paying for. If all we know is that one office charges this huge fee and the one down the hall -- which accepts insurance as well -- does not, it leaves the door wide open to a lot of speculation. I could say that money was my deciding factor, but it wasn't. Again, I say this was MY experience, but when I am trying to get questions answered as we're being rushed out the door of the seminar, it pales in comparison to the way Dr. Robert's staff was able to answer my questions and listen to me. I certainly don't feel listened to as staff is collecting their belongings and tidying up the room. As for Dr. Eric and his slide show, I understand it has been mentioned to him by numerous people to scale it back if he feels he needs to do it. WAY back. Sitting there for 15+ minutes looking at family slides is not exactly what we as potential future clients want to do. We are there to learn about our surgery options, and he is there to tell us about them and then make himself available afterward for questions from us. The thing that bothers me is, since people in your office have suggested he scale it back, and back when he was with Dr. Robert's office the same thing was recommended by staff there, and people like myself have complained about the time he takes doing this, it tells me he doesn't listen when he should. Granted, I'm just seeing a snapshot which likely doesn't represent him as a doctor, but as a consumer, I look at these things. We too are away from our families the nights we come in for the seminar. Not only that, we are there to find out about a procedure that is scary and awesome at the same time, in the sense that it could proverbially change our lives. We want to find out as much as we can in the hour or so that we are there and not waste time looking at photo... after photo... after photo -- ad nauseaum. The first couple pictures were cute, but it got to the point where it came across as unprofessional, in my opinion. Like what he was there to do took second place to his kids (which, I understand, our kids DO come first, but still -- we're there for a seminar, not show-and-tell). I think maybe he needs to listen to potential customers and his staff and scale it way back or knock it off altogether. Granted, it's his business, but I will say that it certainly added to my reasons not to use him. I think it would also be beneficial to be up front and honest about the whole insurance thing and that huge up-front fee. I wan't sure what the situation was until I asked the right questions after the seminar. However, I stand by my assertion that the information was not given easily. I had to ask the same question a number of different ways to try to get the answer. The feelings I have about the presentation were based on these things. I am certain he is a fantastic doctor; he just wasn't for me. The things I listed above are the biggest reasons why. And I will also say that a friend of mine also went to Dr. Eric's seminar some months before we met and had the exact same reaction to him as I did -- again, based on the things listed here -- and ended up going to Dr. Robert. Now, if it doesn't matter to him how he comes across and business is booming, then take what I say for what it's worth and share it with him or don't. Maybe how he comes across doesn't matter so much if he's reaching an adequate number of patients to satisfy him and pay the bills. If he learns something from this and it makes him an even better doctor than I'm sure he is, then this exchange wasn't for naught.
  9. YAAAAYYY!!!! I am doing a SERIOUS happy dance over here for you!!! :tt2::lol::laugh::Banane35::Banane44::Banane33::Banane22::Banane11::thumbdown::Banane21: Well, okay... one thing at a time. Now go walk!
  10. The job prospect sounds GREAT, Ebony! The only thing that caught me when reading this post was, might they be reluctant to take somebody who is an E grade and offer them a D grade? I don't know how much difference there is, but it's like some of the ladies I know who are "overqualified" for most all the jobs they are applying for. Companies won't even talk to them. Might there be an issue for you with them stepping down your pay grade? I hope not. And the fact that you got an interview says they are interested regardless of where you are now.
  11. Can you define what specifically about her piece defines self-hate?
  12. That is so wrong... I just had an issue this week with my band. Went and had a fill on Monday, and as of that evening at bedtime, I was having acid reflux. Kept me up all night. Called the nurse at 6:45 Tuesday morning and told her, and she said to just wait the one day, call her on Wednesday, but to gauge what I eat carefully. It was hard to tell if I was too tight or I had irritated myself by what I ate (I had had a number of Altoids on Monday, some tomato Soup for lunch, and a very late bowl of cheese soup and then went to bed). No blame, just a let's-not-jump-the-gun-just-yet. I was told if I felt worse to for sure call back and somebody would be there for me. Wednesday I called to update her -- felt better, but not completely gone. Got some sleep the night before, but it wasn't restful. Am I getting better, and should I just let it run its course? No, she said, come in, we'll fit you in at noon. I went in and long story short, my PA thought he had gotten me from 4.6 to 5.2cc, but he took OUT 5.8! So I got a 1.2cc fill on Monday and was simply too tight. Had I been told it was all me, I'd STILL be misesrable and possibly causing major issues with my band because of al the irritation. If your doctor's office doesn't jump through hoops for you, then they are the wrong doctor's office. My PA is a hoot. He says to call him at ANY time for ANYthing. Day or night, weekday or weekend. But don't call him, he says, you drop a hammer on your toe. UNLESS you think the band made you do it. I love my PA Paul!! He's the best!
  13. BINGO!! Had she written a puff piece on Obama, her education and self-love would have been oh-so-evident.
  14. Millie, considering that your surgeon is a jackass and was already censured once for not listening to a patient, I hope you file a complaint on him as well. People need to know about bad surgeons out there, no matter who they are. This post makes me appreciate my surgeon's office all the more. Though I never see my surgeon anymore (unless he's in the office), his PA is THE most fantastic guy you could ever meet. He's sweet, caring, ready with a hug when you show up and as you leave, he's very encouraging, and he truly TRULY listens to you. They are the best I could have hoped for. Good luck in your search.
  15. Spirited debates are all well and good. Lord knows I've been known to shut down a board or two in my time in the name of "debate." However, I guess I don't understand her vitriol against people she doesn't know and who I'm certain have done nothing to her. If she wants to disbelieve in God, that's fine. She's entitled to that, as I am to believe. But I don't see anybody daring to call non-believers names and show such hostility towards people simply for believing in a "fairy tale." If her non-belief is so grounded and strong, then it should stand on its own "facts." However, it's beginning to look more like the only way to make her stance seem above the rest of ours is to bring down the opposition by bashing people who only have opposing views. It doesn't exactly make her stance seem more legit. And I don't understand all the anger and hatred, honestly. Can't one disagree with the belief without turning to personal digs against people who simply believe in God? I don't read Patty so I don't know what SHE'S saying, but the few others of us here who believe haven't made disparaging remarks against those here who do not believe. I don't think it's too much to ask the same respect for the people. Bash the theology all you wish, if that's your thing.
  16. I absolutely agree. And I have to say I feel the same way about how our teachers/schools are trying to force our kids to learn about sexual perversions and homosexuality in school. Those are things for private teachings at home.
  17. None. I'm hoping she gets with us and tells us how it went.
  18. I'm not really UNpositive... more confused as to what he's looking for. Then again, so is he apparently.
  19. Omg, this is such bad news... except it's good she's not hurting anymore. I loved reading stuff from her.
  20. Thanks, Slim. :smile2: Well... I felt the interview went well, but... I don't know. It sounds like he's restructuring his office and looking to add an associate. And the girl he has running the office is moving back home, so that's where the admin thing comes in. It sounds as if he's not sure if he wants an attorney who can do some admin stuff or wants an associate AND an admin person... I don't know if HE knows what he wants yet. He said he will sit down with the girl who is leaving, try to plan a strategy as to where he wants this all to go, and conduct additional (second?) interviews. He DID say that after knowing me and working with me in the courts for a few years, he was impressed by my professionalism, ability to handle the job, and personality. The other thing I also have going for me (according to him) over many of the other applicants he's had (OVER 100!!) is that, having worked in the courts as I did, I have an understanding of how the courts work. I guess I'm just confused as to what he's trying to do and whether I will fit the changes he's trying to implement. It was nice interviewing with somebody I know and who knows some of what I can do, so that's good. I guess I just don't know how to react to the interview.
  21. Heading out, y'all! Will write when I get back.
  22. Just got back from buying some new pants that FIT, and even got me some new power-undies (which also fit). The other ones were goin' granny on me.
  23. Lydia, why so angry?? Can you not disagree with religion without calling those who believe in God names or talking disparagingly about us? I really don't get that.
  24. YAAAAY!!! I love feeling powerful. It usually happens when I have DH in a headlock, but... I'd take getting it from a suit! Hmmm, didn't think of that! What she said, INCLUDING the part about the rain. We had a military thing we were going to in DC last night that, right as we got there, got cancelled because of the lightening storm that was coming. Boo. :tt1: Yeah!!! Wait... WHAT benefit?? I thought it just "was." Me too! DITTO!
