  1. That's probably part of your problem...Have you ever thought about that? You are in some serious denial...So, you say your 1/2 Mexican:phanvan I am really trying not to assume stuff. I am really just going off with you are typing here. Why do you get to decide what's funny? I am just using common sense. My mom always said common sense is just as importants as "book smarts." This has nothing to do w/big words. I have a great sense of humor when somethings funny:)
  2. You name White Chicks....I can name lost of movies and television that have tons of stereotypes against minorities, women, age, ....Stereotypes are bad period, but I don't remember any negative ones in white chicks. A few examples: Soul Man, that dumb Jamie Kennedy movie, Scary Movie, even Walt Disney movies have lots of stereotypes whether racial or otherwise. Shoot on Judging Amy also every Latino was a gang banger...
  3. :phanvan Since when...Didn't Isiah Washington just get out of therapy.:speechles
  4. Comparing him to Howard Stern says what about him? Stern is a prejudice, sexist, disgusting human being. And it's R-I-D-I-C-U-L-O-U-S...Couldn't resist after the 10th time!!
  5. I am not a Sharpton supporter per se, but I think you are way off base. I have met Sharpton and I didn't get that at all...Al jumping his big head in front of the camera all the time doesn't change anything. I completely agree that he's hungry for attention.
  6. Maybe you could have tried to educate yourself a little better. By you telling this story it is clear that you still haven't learned anything. Why should he except your apology when it's clear you still to today don't even realize how ignorant your comment was. Perhaps that's why he didn't accept your apology. Have you ever been to the tolerance museum in LA? The Holocaust museum in D.C? The internet is a great source of knowledge (some good and bad). Libraries are great. Talk to people, be willing to listen.
  7. Since you love hip hop you should know it's not all about "gangster/kill people/slap your ho/i'm a pimp, etc." What about Common, Mos Def, Will Smith, Talib Kweli, Dead Prez? Just to name a few. What do you think of them? Even Ludicris and LL Cool J have cleaned up their music.
  8. You can't even admit now your comment was ignorant..You went past bad humor. Who wants to be called a half-breed? Are you sure he was a man or a dog? I didn't even people to call my beloved dog, Fluffy, a mutt (RIP). What's funny about calling someone a half-breed? That's insulting. I would have been embarrassed to tell this story. There wasn't nothing funny about that at all...
  9. So, true...I'm not sure if it is mandated for the all education majors in NC, but @ my university we had to take a class on diversity. I would have taken the class regardless, but needless to say I learned a lot. I am really thinking it should be mandatory.
  10. Sunta you have pretty much said everything..Good read. I have a BA in History and I took tons of African, AA, European, and Latin history. I wish I some of my stuff here from my American Minorities class. More people should open their minds.
  11. Thank you TommyO...What would that have said about CBS and MSNBC had they not fired him? I would have taken it as they were supported this idiot.
  12. Exactly!! That's exactly why we can't get anywhere as a human race b/c we don't support each other. I just got a flash back of A Time to Kill When Mathew McCanaughey (sp) asked the jurors to imagine it was a white child....
  13. How is Al Sharpton a racist? He may be prejudice, but I don't see how it's possible for a black male in America to be racist. Define racism. I think you are confused. Not saying I am a Sharpton fan by an means. People need to understand that Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson don't speak for all black America. Al Sharpton didn't make Imus say that crap. Why can't they both be wrong?
  14. I didn't misread your comment. I am just disagreeing with you. I think some of yal would have been more offended had he called the young women fat hos...I have listened to Howard Stern before, but I chose not to waste my time on that senselessness. Not sure how you are relating "the results of a b-ball game" to the term ho. Care to elaborate. I wouldn't even insult frat boys like this..Most of the ones I know have more sense than to do something like this. People know what's offensive, mean, hateful and what's not. I am sure we have all been offended. If some frat boys walked over and called me a fat whore I would be offended. I am human and have feelings.
  15. Nope, I sure haven't...I am just going to common sense and the posibilities of that are zelch!! If you find the facts and statistics, please post them. And I am talking about real facts, I don't want any garbage was some white supremacist website.
  16. :phanvan How well do you know Imus? I really need to leave this thread. So, black men or the only ones that either refer to women as hos? Aren't young white males are the main purchasers of hip hop music. And I guess it's okay for Tommy Lee, Kid Rock and them to objectify women. It's okay for Paris and Nicole to make sex tapes and call either other bitches and hos. And it's okay for Imus to call young black women hos b/c some black men do. I get it now:phanvan
  17. You have got to be kidding me. We must be living in too different worlds. And the sad thing is you actually believe what you are saying (typing). You need to come out of your bubble and live in the real world. Since when is it more difficult for a white male to get into minorities......Stop dreaming...
  18. I find this statement repugnant.... re·pug·nant /rɪˈpʌgnənt/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation [puhg-nuhnt] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation –adjective 1.distasteful, objectionable, or offensive: a repugnant smell. 2.making opposition; averse. 3.opposed or contrary, as in nature or character. What does Snoop Dogg and the other "hip hop rappers" have to do with that horrible statement that Imus made? So, if they didn't make these comments, what would it change? I have noticed how some people keep trying to justice this offensive comment by trying to compare it some of the things said by some hip hop artists. Maybe b/c hip hop artists are predominately black. Are hip hop artists they only ones that objectify women? If you are going to call them out what about the commercials, movies, tv shows, and porn industry that continue to objectify women on a daily basis.
  19. Kirsten- You have probably already tried them, but have you tried the fillcenterusa. They weren't able to help me, but they were able to tell me of some docs that were being added to their network that weren't listed on the website.
  20. I have heard this a couple of times and it still makes absolutely no sense to me. What does one have to do with the other? Wrong is wrong right is right point blank. Like my mother used to say if John jumps off a bridge are you going to jump off a bridge. These people trying to justify what this idiot said blaming it on music are as bad as Imus. I agree that it's not right what some musicial artists say. And nappy head is a derogatory comment in it's self. Did he get that from a musicial artist too?
  21. Shesha- That is my problem too, ugh!! I did good for like a week and I haven't exercised for about a week. It's so hard to get started. Once I get started I remember it's not that bad. I am supposed to go to Curves tomorrow and try a 2 week free membership. A reunion sounds fun!!
  22. Hi guys!! Glad to see everyone is doing good as usual!! Kirsten- Good luck on finding a fill doctor. You experience sounds a lot like mine. The doctor I went with is also $500 to join...Only he is an additional $1,000 for the year which seems ridiculous when people are getting $100 fills, no joining fees!! I hope you find someone good and reasonable!! Everyone is doing so well. Wow Drewslou, you are only 35 lbs to goal. To cool!! Marjon- You are too funny. That's great you're still doing good w/no fill!! Shesha-I didn't realize that you had your fill...Looks like you're doing great!! Just posting a followup on my nonfill...I went back to my followup doctor yesterday, but I still wasn't able to get my fill...I was so nervous that I took my bestfriend with me. The actually fill part wasn't bad at all. At first he couldn't find the port, so he did an ultrasound. Finally he finds the port and couldn't access it. Evidentally there was some fluid over the port. He ended up drawing out 1/3 ounce of fluid. He told I would have to wait a month before my fill..He said he could tell I still had some restriction and swelling. That was the only part that really hurt, all the poking. I had to get an antibotic to prevent infection. My fill is now rescheduled for 5/1. Oh, and I had my upper GI and the doc said everything looked great.
  23. Happy Bandiversary!!! :clap2: Wow, that is so great. Really great, inspirational post. It really made me think that it's possible for me to be there in a year. I think it's good to read something like this every once in a while just to keep positive. Congrats!!! I need you as my mentor!!! I want to go back and read your posts. Please post any tips......
  24. I was out for 9 1/2 days. I was only supposed to be out for 7, but I took 2 more off. I probably could have gone back to work sooner, but I just didn't want to.
  25. I was banded 6 weeks yesterday. I can eat anything, but I still am feeling some restriction. Everyday and every meal seems different. I will have my first fill this Monday.
