  1. I notice that many people don't reach goal but have lost significant weight? Are all of the changes and the fears and the money worth it? Would you do it again knowing what you know now? I am deciding on WLS. I know my weight gain has made me feel old. I can't do activities that I love to do. I love to ride horses but my weight is too heavy for my horse babies and it makes me unbalanced. I love to run but my weight makes it so hard on my joints. My feet hurt daily. My back hurts all of the time. While I would like to get down to goal-I would be thrilled with 50% of excess Weight loss. I would be so much more able to be active. What do you all think? :paranoid
  2. Great thread-I look forward tothe responses. I think it demonstrates that people lose a lot of weight! But when the question of the % of excess weight lost, well it is not perfect. So maybe my question to myself is: Is the procedure worth it if I only lose half of my excess weight? I shall ponder this-but I bet most of you probably say "Yes-siree!"
  3. I do know exactly what you mean about the calming effect of food. It is a great drug. Once you have the fat, for many people there is a stong genetic and hormonal drive to maintain the fat.
  4. I am afraid of productive burping. I really hate that idea. I am afraid of not being able to eat and feeling hungry. I am afraid of GERD and ruining my esophagus. I am afraid that I won't lose weight. I am afraid of obstruction. I am afraid that I will spend my family's hard earned money and not lose weight. And look pathetic.
  5. So this is my confession-I have spent it seems much of my adult life worried about my weight. Since I have turned 40-I am now past obese. I want a band. But I am scared. I hate vomiting. Can I ever go out to dinner. Is having wine with dinner verboten. And no more carbonation-I have had a diet coke almost every day of my adult life- that will be challenging but I could cope. So here is another question-I hear that this is just a tool and you have to work it-well how do I know that I won't fail at this. Now you have to understand that I am a highly disciplined person and yet in this one are of my life I am not winning. Is the band the leg up that I need? Thank you for your answers KK
  6. I heard that he does individuals with more than 40 pounds to lose private pay-will you check that out at the seminar.... I wish you luck:clap2:
  7. How many of you are "lower" bmi's who have had weight loss resistance and opted for banding. Who did your surgery? Was it a good solution for you? Thanks;)
