Having surgery Monday-What to wear?
I wore my loosest pair of yoga pants and they were a tight fit when I went home. I had to roll the top down a lot for an easier car ride home. Aside from what the others have said I wish I would have brought a pillow as the one provided I wasn't able to use so I was never truly comfortable in bed.

First real temptation
It must be hard, but you have done well. Congratulations on that. I also have a few upcoming events and none there will know that I had the surgery either. If I can handle myself as well as you have I will be proud.

Numbness Near Incision
This is what I'm thinking too. I guess it's 50/50 that the feeling will come back. It's funny though, that spot is one of the spots that act up and hurt the most below the surface. As long as that goes away I can live with the numbness I think. Thanks for your feedback :)

February 2019 weight loss buds
I find I am not full of energy and anything that I have to do for any amount of time wears me out, including showers. I wonder if it is bp related, I will have to take mine next time. I think once we can get a little bit more into our systems we should have more energy. I get to start purees on Thursday next week, can't wait!

It's a new learning experience for us all. Give it time and we'll have it figure out... hopefully :p

Numbness Near Incision
I searched on here but all the numbness that seems to come up has to do with legs. I am wondering if anyone else had any numbness near any of their incisions? About 2 inches below one of my incisions I have like a 4 x 4 inch area of complete numbness and was wondering if you had it did it go away? Edit: I had googled it on my phone earlier but I did it for gastric bypass specifically and got no definite answer. I just googled it for general surgery and it's common and hopefully will go away.

February 2019 weight loss buds
I was still in the hospital at that time. I had little plastic shot glasses I was drinking from and they wanted me to do 6 an hour with protein being the most important. I could only do 2 protein and was full so I'd do a couple water too. My roommate on the other hand could hit her 6 easy. Do your best to get in what they told you to over the course of the day and I found as the swelling came down I was able to drink more. A couple days after being home I was able to drink 2 protein shakes and half the liquid they wanted over the course of the day. Now at day 10 I can get all my liquids in.

February 2019 weight loss buds
I also had trouble with sleep, and actually just got a full night last night. I was on the 11th. But around day 5 I think I felt similar to how you are feeling. I had to take gravol and was feeling very sorry for myself. You'll be surprised how much difference a day or two can make. Every day something seems to get a little easier or less painful.

The dreaded gas
I never heard in any of the meetings or appointments leading up to the surgery about gas pain. As soon I was in my room my nurse talked about it and how I needed to get up and walk. Then of course it was a multiple daily question... did you pass gas from below? Then it's a really big deal when you finally say yes and they woohoo! :p I read about it though on here so I was prepared for it.

Pain
That's good that you'll go in asap if you feel any of those things. I had the drain also, not the nicest of things to have is it? I didn't have the pain that you are describing. Like you I believe my pain tolerance to be up there but I think you hit the nail on the head when you said the length of time you've been in pain is more the issue. I hope it subsides for you soon and you can move on from this stage.

February 2019 weight loss buds
It's a week today for me and this is this best I've been feeling. Each day is a little better. 5 days ago I didn't think I was ever going to feel this good again. I kept having to remind myself it will get easier. Good luck on your surgery and a speedy recovery.

How long will i have pain in my belly after gastric bypass?
I felt the same way you did for about 5 days. Today the swelling seems to have come down a nice bit but the gas pain was still very really for most of the day. I hope that feeling goes away for you soon.

Day 2 post op.
I feel for ya, I got mine as well and had just finished a few days prior. It's very common though. I am 6 days out and today was probably my first mostly good day. Wishing you all a speedy recovery.

February 2019 weight loss buds
Everyone is different, a lot in this thread are up and going well which is great. I had mine on the 11th and I am struggling with pain, gas and other. Everything is a chore but I hope to see improvement in the coming week. I personally don't think I would be able to do the trip but I hope you have the results of the many here. Best wishes and a speedy recovery.

February 2019 weight loss buds
I lost 33 pounds during the course of months leading to surgery. I lost 8 pounds for the 2 weeks of liquid diet. I lost 3.5 pounds for the 2 day water only after the liquid protein diet. I also weighed myself today as soon as I got home from the hospital and I am only up 3 pounds after my Feb 11 surgery, but a woman who went the same day I did and was my roommate is up 12. Very interesting how we all are so different.

February 2019 weight loss buds
I went in on the 11th at 1pm. Surgery was 2 and half hours and I was in recovery for a couple hours. I had to have a drain put in and I'm hoping it'll come out this afternoon. I have quite a bit of pain if I don't get the meds on time. I think I'll be out tomorrow, yay, can't wait to get some real sleep. Dr's say everything went well and looks good. This was hard to text as I'm pretty loopy from the morphine. Best wishes to all the up comers and speedy recovery to those on the mend. :)

Perplexed - no weight loss?
At one of my pre op appointments the nurse told me to throw away my scale and not step on it for that very reason.

Pre Op Liquid diet
I was starving too for a couple of days, day 3 it started to settle down. The first 3 days I had some sugar free jello to help me. Day 4 was easier and now at day 12 it's very easy. Drink water and fight through those first few days. You got this.

February 2019 weight loss buds
I'm on day 8 of this, well optifast protein shakes. It's easier now. I have 6 more days of it followed by 2 days of just clear fluids and then surgery on the 11th. I am dreading the 2 days of just clear though, I think I'll be starving then. Or maybe I will be so nervous that the surgery is so close I won't notice lol.

February 2019 weight loss buds
I am feeling the same way as you, mine is on the 11th. You aren't alone. I just try to keep myself busy and my mind off it but that's easier said then done. Just keep positive and focused on the reason you're doing it in the first place, that's the goal, the surgery is just one of the steps to getting there. Best wishes.
