  1. This is super helpful! Thank you!
  2. I’ve thought about it. It just became legalized this week and the lineups in our city have been LLOOONNGGG all week. My pain is pretty much nothing now, so I probably don’t need any now but open to it in the future. I’ll play it by ear
  3. Hey everyone! I’m a self paid patient that is about a week post op. I’m from Canada and paid for the surgery in Mexico. I’m home now and doing great. I have not told my primary physician or family, friends or anyone about the surgery. I know post op medical support is important, so I’m considering my different options now. If I have any complications or anything comes up in the short term, of course I’ll seek the appropriate care, but I’m hoping to hear from others about their post op care plan. - Monthly or routine check ups? - Blood work how often? - Nutritionist? (How often?) - Psychological support? Thanks to everyone for their input!
  4. Just did my first weekly weigh in since surgery. I’m down 8 lbs post op and 20 lbs overall! Wohoo!
  5. Tomorrow I’ll do my first weigh in since surgery 8 days ago. It will be interesting to see, but I already am starting to notice healthy changes in my body and more room in my clothes. I spent time with my family today, which was tough because they don’t know I was sleeved and were offering me food that I wasn’t sure how I would handle. I preemptively decided we should have soup, and just ate the broth, and had a very small piece of cheese that I chewed very well. So far my body seems to be handling it ok and I am feeling good.
  6. I’m officially 1 week post op today and feeling great!
  7. Feeling pretty pleased with myself! I typically have struggled with food because I wait until I’m starving and then eat everything. I almost never have healthy options around and it’s really been a problem for me. Now that I am post surgery, I’m starting to meal plan for in a month or so when I can start eating “real” food. I have put together 12 breakfast options of things I actually like, ranging from 12-35g of protein (Average 18g)! I’m going to plan ahead, buy what I need and stick to this. I got this!
  8. I’m 5 days post op and feelin pretty good. The antibiotics they gave me make me feel nauseous but I only have to take them 3 more times at night so I’ll get through it. Other than that, I can pretty much do my normal activities, with just a little soreness. It’s hard to get all my liquids in, in fact haven’t quite made it up to 1 litre a day yet but I’m working on it. I’m not hungry so it’s hard to keep reminding myself to drink.
  9. I’m 3 days post-op and heading home. I had my surgery in Mexico so it’s a full day of travel for me to get home. I’m a bit nervous about the travelling since I’ve done nothing but rest the last few days but my pain is very low and tolerable.
  10. Packing my hospital bag! Surgery on Saturday! I am nervous and excited and trying not to think about it too much because I know I will freak myself out so just trying to be as positive and prepared as possible right now.
  11. Almost done day 3 of the liquid pre op diet. I’m already tired of the limited foods to eat! I wish my order would come - I ordered different protein shakes and drinks, soups, jello and all kinds of things to add some variety to my life!
  12. Just finished my first day of preop liquid diet. It was hard. I didn’t like the tastes of things and found it hard to finish any of my meals. I have a bit of a headache but I’m not terribly hungry. I just have to remind myself that the ends will make some minor discomfort worth it.
  13. I’m starting 2 week liquid diet today. I ordered a bunch of protein juices, broth, shakes, etc online but they aren’t here yet (I ordered almost 2 weeks ago with express shipping!) So now I’m going to have to go to the grocery store, which I hate - and try to figure out stuff that will meet the liquid diet requirements. Any tips for me?
