NS = YUCK! Jenny Craig = GOOD + expensive. I works if you can afford to pay for the food every week. WW = works but you have to really work the program.
  2. Thanks Mary. I've been trying to get onto the Tricare/Triwest website for a few days but it seems to be down. I spoke to someone a few weeks ago about the requirements but misplaced the info.
  3. Congrats on getting banded and on your weightloss. Your doctor should've given you very specific instructions on your consumption of foods/liquids. You should contact him/her to get that info.
  4. Go get another opinion. My first thought was it is about the money. I've heard/read of several people getting banded that are over 300 lbs.
  5. I was hospitalized exactly two years ago with pneumonia. Will this mostly likely disqualify me for surgery? When I saw the nutritionist and she asked me about it and the expression on her face changed a little bit. Maybe I'm just reading more into it than I should've.
  6. My daughter just got home from spending time with her boyfriend's family and brought home a bag of clothes for me. My daughter's boyfriend's mom had gastric bypass in June 07 and sent home size 14's that she used to wear. She's very excited that I'm heading towards being banded as she tried to get me to have GB with her. It was very sweet of her but it's going to be awhile before I can wear them as I'm currently a 28/30.
  7. It's interesting how each doctor gives different instructions to their patients. The nutritionist told me no carbonated sodas, which is going to be hard cause I'm a Diet Coke drinker for the caffine. When I said I would switch to Iced Tea she told me that caffine isn't good either because it irritates the area around the band and cause an ulcer type effect.
  8. If you can't sleep go the doctor and checked out. I had a doctor put me on Ambien which took a couple of months to kick in and then I was calling into work because I couldn't wake up to drive. I finally go off of it and went to another doctor who had a sleep study test done. I have sleep apnea and on a CPAP and feel much better. You too might need to be checked for sleep apnea. I have a co-worker who does not have weight problem but has severe sleep apnea to the point that he stops breating for 38 seconds at a time. You might have same type of problem and don't know it.
  9. If so, how do they calculate the time? My doctor has been telling me to lose weight for at least that long for which I've done Jenny Craig and Weight Watchers. He's trying to get me to do Opifast but I think it's because he wants the $500/mo it costs to do it through his office. If I could afford that, I'd still be on JC.
  10. Hello everyone! I'm so glad I found this message board. I've been reading for a week or so ago and thought I would post. People are so supportive and I've learned a lot. I've been thinking about getting banded for the past couple of years and recently found out that my insurance will finally pay for it. Yippee! I have some major medical problems related to my weight and am scared at the outcome if I don't get the weight off. I went to a seminar about a month ago and saw the nutritionist yesterday. I look forward to going through this journey and getting healthy.
  11. I'm reading through this and am now nervous about whether or not my psych eval will be different after speaking the nutritionist yesterday. It came out that I binge eat when I feel stressed especially work related stress. I did tell her that I am actively looking for a different job to get out of my present situation (which I didn't go into) which is really stressful. She asked if I thought of taking antidressants. I just hope this doesn't prevent me from getting approval for the surgery.
