  1. Dr. Abkin is genial, but direct. I like him. I read somewhere that their surgeon (from out of state) called the night before and told her he had been on vacation and wasn't sure if he remembered how to do the surgery. LOL! Question for Abkin people. I have Medicare and am having trouble getting reimbursed for the pschy and nutrionist. They gave me some forms and told me to send it in, but Medicare is not accepting it like that. They say the office has to send in the form. I don't know what to do.
  2. I tried getting on that spotlighhealth site but it seems to be down
  3. Thank you shady. I would love to hear/see more celeb stories.
  4. My surgeon's staff said to eat 3 meals so that you can get in all your water. They said if you are eating 5 meals, and have to wait 30 min before and after, you could become dehydrated. I'm hypoglycemic, so this will be a challenge.
  5. I asked this question of the surgon's group and she said that people with the badn have a 2 year window before your body figures out what's going on and begins to fight to try to keep the fat on. So they suggest we don't become pregnant before then so you can lose that weight. After that, it will become harder, even with the band. Something to think about
  6. Welcome back Islandmom! How was it??
  7. oooh interesting! Can someone bump the old thread?
  8. Nan, my worries and fears are the same. All we can do is come here for the support we need and for me, put my trust in the higher power that led me to this.
  9. Salt is the main ingredient, but I also think there is some other thing in there. Not too sure.
  10. Hey all! So glad to know I'm not alone in this and with these feelings. I am worried about the liquids but they say you probably won't be hungry. I hope that is the case. 7 more sleeps!! Countdown 7 until totally different way of life! :-o
  11. Sounds like something good to carry in the purse and also one at home. Thanks!
  12. The meat tenderizer, how do you take it? a teaspoon of Water Sounds like the Mary Poppins song only:"A teaspoon of Lawrys helps the PB's stay down"
  13. Thanks all, I just didn't want to screw up surgery, even though I'm getting more and more nervous. And your welcome Kim, glad I could give you the laugh! :-D
  14. This brings up an all important question.. When you PB in public, that has got to be so embarrassing, correct? The last thing people dining out want to see and smell and hear is someone vomiting. I would be in distress from the pain and fear and the embarrassment. What do you all do when this happens in public?
  15. Totally off topic but... ROFL at your Johnny Depp quote in your sig DeCarla. My boyfriend is not only beautiful, but witty.
  16. Hey all, I may be getting a sinus infection and wondered if anyone had to take anti-biotics 2-1 week before banding.
  17. I'm PCOS but I'm not banded yet. I'll have to wait and see!
  18. I follow the 24 hour rule. Instead of having a knee-jerk reaction to an email, a post, whatever I wait 24 hours. Otherwise, defensiveness, and inner anger (read: my own "stuff" being taken out on others ) can give vent to something you wish you had not. Sometimes that angry part of our nature is just looking for an excuse to lash out.
  19. My surgery is about a week away and I'm really getting nervous, doubting my decision, thinking of the worst scenarios. "Will I be one who erodes?" etc. I had a dream last night I was banded. I dreamt I was surprised I could lay on my left side with my cat. My cat Sam DEMANDS that I cuddle him with his head on my pillow and I have to be in a spooning position with my arm under him, which requires I lay on my left side. (If I don't do this, he taps on my head with his paw all night until I do) I also dreamt I drank something at normal speed and THEN remembered I was banded and began to panic, waiting for the PB pain to commence.

  21. Anyone else going through that second guessing stage? I had a dream last night I was banded. I dreamt I was surprised I could lay on my left side with my cat.
