  1. i drink water all night long at work. drink 24 oz between each meal and wait 60-90 mins after eating to drink. I am just trying to be pacient and not over eat to much. At the end of the month i get to see the surgen and hopefully he will give me a decent fill. I havent had any problem eating anything except once with really dry meat that was to tough to chew. I went up to leavenworth today with my dad. I forgot how long it takes to drive up there. We stopped at the fruit stand, i love the apples and asian pears we get up there. I now have enough of both to last me forever. Put them out in the garage and they will hold up for long time. Picked up some colby cheese sticks at the store, so can have apple and cheese as a meal or snack now. I havent been getting enough fruit or fiber in my diet and have to take way to much fiber supplements. My body was never good at the low carb all meat diets. it was a fun day.
  2. my doc told me to stay away from the lean cuisene meals, that most arent the type of food i should be eating. Im told no pasta, bread, rice.(for the first time in my life i am missing eating sandwiches). I have tried them, but they dont seem to fill me up, usually still hungry afterwards. I had heard alot of people couldnt eat lettuce in salads so hadnt tried one yet. Think i will try my chilli and salad mix in next couple days see how it goes. i have been liking the chicken fajita mix they sell fresh in the safeway meat department. I like the spice on it. I just eat it as it is chicken and peppers/onions. I found those citrate peite calcium pills, going to give them a try today. they are def smaller than the other, but still look somewhat big. cindy you still out there? how are you doing? healing up ok?
  3. Well been a few days of eating regular food since my fill. I dont feel any different. I need to get off my but and get myself into the gym at least 1 of my days off. I still walk my dog for an hour 5 days a week, but need to add to my exercise. It just seems like something always happens on my days off to prevent me from going. anyone have any suggestions for some quick good filling meals? I love the wendy's chilli, but to feel satisfied and ok hunger wise for 4 hours i have to eat the large. I am a graveyard worker, live alone so its sometimes a pain to cook when its just for me.
  4. I would call your family doctor or insurance company and ask them what they require. I am a dispatcher for LEA and we have a few different insurance companies and each has different requirements for approval.
  5. I just had my second fill, i am still able to eat large portions before i feel satisfied. I think i am feeling fuller a small bit longer though. I battle the head hunger when i am not working. It is getting better. Since i have been eating around 1100-1200 calories, doc told me to try this month to keep it under a 1000 calories a day. I am tech susposed to be no more than 800, but am just to hungry. Momx5: just hang in there. I am down some cause i am not loosing much at all either. I lost 6 pounds in september, the doc was happy, but i was able to loose that much if not more on my own a month before surgery. Hopefully since you have to way 90 days for a fill the doc will give you a bigger one.
  6. Shell. You might need a few more days off. I'd suggest at least 2 weeks off of work. Glad to hear surgery went well. I went in for my second fill today. This time was with the doc's pa. I'm not sure if I care for him. It hurt more when he did the fill and I had to talk him into putting in a .5 cc fill. He was happy with my 6 pound weight loss this month. Had to keep explaining to him that it was me and my control that had me loosing not the band. I have yet to feel really any restriction. I guess I have 4.5cc in right now but some of that is what liquid is in the tubing leading up to the port. Have my first mushy meal in a couple hours then later after that will have reg meal and hopefully will see if have some restriction.
  7. Try seeing another doc at the same clinic. Tell them you think you might have sleep apnea. That is a weight related issue. Ghc has a bariatric doc. It is Dr Bock. You just have to get referred to him from family doc.if you get approved from insurance he is who you will have to see. I here he is susposed to be coming to the next monthly meeting un November at federal way clinic. You should come and you can maybe talk to him then. It is the first wed of the month from 630 to 830Pm.
  8. darecain, do you have any medical conditions currantly cause of your weight? Your BMI is probably a little low for them to just recommend you? I am not sure, but the surgan was a little surprised I got approved. I just have arthritis starting in an ankle and have psuedo sudo something, it causes excess fluid on the brain and generally only seen w/overweight woman. I go to dr duncan at the puyallup clinic. He gave me no problems at all, just filled out the paperwork and sent it in. They do ask about last time in 3-5 year period you did a diet, how long it was and how much you lost and also your heath issues related to weight. there are 2 other people on these boards that have ghc and live in your area. One just had surgery last week so might take her a bit to reply, other havent seen on the board lately, but I will email her and see what she says.
  9. I dont have much restriction yet. I work graves so my eating is in reverse. morning: 6 oz chicken and 1 cup mixed veggies cooked Lunch: same as breakfast again Dinner: 1 yogurt and 1 cup of kashie cerial mixed up for a snack: nugo meal bar. I am around 1100-1200 calories at day...finally going in for 2nd fill in couple days. Hoping for some restriction.
  10. Where do you live? I have group health. My family doc didnt give me hard time.
  11. I am guessing you have some restriction even though you have no fill. Also, guys loose weight pretty fast compared to women. As long as you are not having any probs eating and getting all your protein and nutrients I wouldnt worry. You can always call and talk with the doc/nurse as well.
  12. no i didnt get soar from fill. i have been feeling some tenderness this past week around it. Think it is from the healing and scaring, might be cause i have a sit down job and when i stand it stretches some.
  13. a girl at work that had the bypass, goes to a tanning booth for short periods of time, works for her.
  14. Only time I have had restriction has been the first week after surgery. It took my 30-40 mins to drink a Protein shake and wasnt even hungry. It will go away by the 2nd week. I luckily didnt have the sholder pain from the gas. For me it felt like someone was sitting on my chest and I was only able to take shallow breaths. I got up and walked for 10-15 mins several times a day. It went away in about 3 days. Make sure you getting at least 32 oz of Water in that first week and work up to 64oz. I was told biggest prob for people after surg was dehydration. congrats on being banded.
  15. I go in for my 2nd fill in a little under a week. The doc did it the first time, this time will be the head nurse. I am hoping she is as good as the doc. The only time i feel any restriction is if i am eating re heated meat(makes it drier) and eating it to fast. Otherwise have no restriction really, can eat a lot and hungry ever 3hrs.
  16. malteselover: I am in the same boat. Nothing put in the band at surgery, went back 1 month later lost 11 pounds (8 of it on liquid only 1st week). I got a 2cc put in 10cc band. I havent felt any restriction. I am only susposed to be eating 600-800 calories, but still to hungry, so am up to around 1100-1200 a day, sometimes more sometimes less. I have been lucky that i haven't put on any weight and have managed to loose like 4 pounds. It gets harder every day, cause my hunger comes back more and more. I go in on the oct 2nd for my next fill. I am hoping that this one gives me some restriction.
  17. Sue what do u use for calcium supplement. I have tried the tablets, both disolved and cut in half and swallowed. I feel nacious both ways when i take them. I have been try'g the viactiv but are starting to taste nasty and tech aren't the citrate kind doc wants. you ever heard of any smaller calcium pills? wondering if because the kind i get at costco are so thick and have to break apart (still hard to swollow) make me nacious.
  18. I am up to eating around 1100-1200 calories a day, maybe loosing a pound a week. Most of it is my control. I can eat a dinner lean cuisene meal and be hungry again in 2-3hrs. I have only had the 1 fill, going in for another in little over a week. I usually am eating 6 oz of meat and 1 and 1/2 cups of mixed veg's. lately found that a cup kashie go lean and a yogurt mixed up keeps me pretty full for 3 hrs. I am still eating way over what my doc recommends and have maybe once or twice felt like i ate to fast. Have yet to find something I cant eat. was just not sure what to expect when i do finally feel some restriction and eating real food. only time i felt restriction or where i had to go slowly on what i drank or ate was the first week after surgery cause of all the swelling. I am still loosing and not gaining so that is good for me, but so far just feel like im still doing weightwatchers on my own without the band to aid me.
  19. hi Moggie and jewels. Jewels your lucky your ins only had u waite 3 months . from time i put in for the surgery to surgery day it was 10 months for me. It only took 3-4 months for the approval part. Sue when you felt restriction, how much could you eat at a meal.
  20. Cindy good luck on surgery, let me know how you are feeling.
  21. glad to hear you are doing well robin.
  22. I was told 5hrs between meals, and just 3 meals a day & 1 snack totaling 600-800 calories. I've had 1 fill and have no restriction and am hungry every 3hrs and am eating around 1000 calories a day. I have been lucky, an have not gained any weight even managed to loose a couple pounds.
  23. I have a sit down job. I am a police dispatcher. Take off the month, the last thing u wanna do is go back to soon. you wont feel back to yourself until the middle of the 3rd week. Even then will still have some tenderness where the port it. I still have some now.
  24. How is everyone doing? It has been quiet in here. I survived my first 2 weeks back at work, only had 1, 6 day work week and , 4 12hr work days in that period. It has been hard trying to figure out when to eat at work, especially when i am working a 12hr day. I am still getting hungry every 3 hrs or so and am eating a couple hundred more calories a day than i am susposed to. Cant wait until my next fill. just 2 more weeks to go.
  25. for 1 week of liquids, protein shakes and cream soups(just strain out the mushrooms or onions that are in it), jello, pudding. the week of mushies i ate, oatmeal made w/milk for more protein, tuna w/lite mircle whip, cottage cheese if you like it(but i found it didnt keep my hunger controled).refired beans w/melted cheese(this kept me the most satisfied). defently have some sugar free popsicles, you will go thrue a couple a day. they help the throute irritation. I still dont have any restriction or at least very little. I am axiously waiting for my next fill on the 2nd. I have been watching what i have been eating and still only eating around 800-1000 calories a day, but my body is refuse'g to drop the weight. Have been sick w/cold since last week, need to get back out and start walking again.
